What does the silencer ring look like?

I pulled the rubber boot off my turbo on my '96 Cummins and I didn't see anything like a silencer ring. It may be already removed by previous owner. All I see is an internal keeper ring and the small turbo blades. Thanks

The 3"dia keeper ring is what's holding it in,it right behind it. Unless you like high pitched whining noises leave it in.

without the ring and stock exhaust , it is louder than the ringing in my ears , not excessively but you can hear it , after i installed my JRE 4" exhaust and dynomax race magnum muffler it was so loud that i reinstalled it after the 180 mile drive home , it was to much and my hearing is bad.
