Well my son finally found time to haul this to Montana, it weighed in at 34,500 so he added the other load to it, 5300 lbs. of tin, for a total of 39,800, right on Rams GCW rating. I asked him to keep me advised of how the truck does. Should be interesting.

Well, after 4 days and 2400 miles, the '16 Ram Mega dually is a winner. Round trip fuel was 7 mpg, the return was fairly light. He hauled an '05 Ram quad cab, 4x4 short bed back, that he traded the building for, from my brother. He said the start and stop was significant, but the cruise was fine. Raton pass was 3rd gear at the top. He also said that, pound for pound, the big trucks were in the way. His normal, local loads are in the 32-34k range.
