RV 275's should be good for 35-40 on a 245HO engine.
My 75HP DDII's are 90HP on a HO.

Bob Cochran said:I don't think I have a boost leak. Check clamps every oil change and when pulling a grade I am seeing 21 psi. Now I don't let the EGT get above 1300* so back off or down shift to a lower gear. I get these egt's pulling my 14000# 5er. It appears to me the EGT's would keep climbing if I did not back off. I thought this was normal without mod's. Any other suggestions?
By the way will have to think on the exhaust change to 4" as then I would have to replace the Jacobs exhaust brake I currently have.
Cummins724 said:You can use the exhaust brake if it is a turbo mounted unit & still get a 4" exhaust. You should be getting more boost than 21... ... I would get a adjustable boost elbow & turn it up to around 35. I used to run 40lbs boost with my hx35 & had 90hp injectors & edge comp... ... never got egts over 1200 pulling 13000 lbs. Most common places for boost leak is rubber hoses on intercooler plumbing, intake manifold plate where airhorn bolts on. I think you have a boost leak..... my truck stock got 28psi boost.
Bob Cochran said:Interesting I think I will have to see what boost I really can get. I am watching the EGT's so close not looking to see what the boost really is getting up to. If I am not getting close to 28 will start looking for a leak. I will have to try it unloaded and in a few days as it is snowing tonight and let things dry out some. Will be using the wifes Jeep tomorrow.
Cummins724 said:If you return your truck to stock..... yes it can be used by the guy who buys it. If you are getting high egts with the setup that you have... ... then something must be wrong. You may have a boost leak. I would get that checked out first... ... then look at upgrades, because I ran a edge comp, 90hp injectors & never had egt issues with a stock turbo [at the time]. How much boost do you get? Maybe look into getting a adjustable boost elbow.

I ran Mach 1's (65Hp), Smarty, TST, HX 35 set at 35 psi and I could blow past 1500F EGT in about twelve heartbeats. Getting to 1600F plus was not really a problem either.

ILIANBG said:He has an 01. The stock turbo should have the wastgate set at 21 psi. So appears that he has no boost leak. Mine is an 02, stock turbo, same thing- 21psi, no boost leak, no adjust. boost fitting. If I am wrong, please, somebody correct me.
I am also looking at a set of injectors, with Smarty to come after that. The 275 RV look as a good choice, costwise maybe the best.

Cummins724 said:Exactly... . look what you had stacked on that truck to get those temps..... this guy has a superchips tuner. I didn't get temps like that when I had 90hp injectors, edge comp stacked with superchips tuner..... with a stock charger. I towed with this setup for 6 months daily pulling 12-13k & on long hard pulls saw 1200* max.
NoSeeUm said:Yeah OK. oops. I was talking about unloaded WOT for some reason. So I guess I was not exactly discussing apple to oranges.
You are talking 4th (5th - direct) gear pulling a grade right?
I am starting to feel like a hijacker here. My apologies.

I would do the Smarty first, then injectors, then air intake. Personally I would not spend the $ on 4 inch exhaust for what you are wanting to do. If you drive easy you can make the clutch last even with upgrades, assuming it is in good condition now.
