It's time. Previous owner had put on D-range Cooper's on and I need to get them off. I really want the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ, however they only offer 4 sizes for a 17" wheel. I like the look of the stock wheel, but it seems to be really limiting my choices for tires.

So, do I look for new wheels in 18 or 20"? Or find another tire that will fit my stock 17's? Right now, truck is on stock suspension but I have a Carli 3" kit planned. I think 33-34" overall diameter would work well for me.

Who makes a quality alloy wheel? I see lots of ads in the magazines, but who knows if they are cheap imported junk or a strong, reliable product.

Feedback appreciated. This will be a big expense and I need to be well informed.

Thanks in advance!

Stay away from anything cast. Only go forged if you are going to whomp on it, and it sounds like you may. My '06 is a Laramie, and I'm pretty sure they are forged aluminum, and chrome clad. My truck came with BFG 315/70/17 and had no clearance problems with those wheels and a 2" leveling kit.
I know nothing else about aftermarket wheels for these trucks.

I have Mickey Thompson Classic II wheels. I stuck with 17", but kind of wished I had gone 18" or 19" for more choices in load range E tires. For the 17" wheel load range E, I've had Procomp Xtreme A/T (I don't recall the metric size, but they measured out to about 32") with no complaints, and I'm now on my second set of 35" Toyo Open Country M/T's. I have a Kore Recon lift, and the fronts rub a bit. Kore says they won't rub if you stick with stock wheels or stock offset wheels. But, the Mickey Thompsons only came in one offset in 17". I've been pretty happy with it all. My only complaint with the MT wheels is the crappy center caps they provide, they rust quickly, and I've paid to replace them once already.

I have a thread on here somewhere that I started with other options in 35" load range E, but I'm not sure you are looking to go that big?
