Fleetguard makes two grades of filters for our engines. 1 is paper (cellulose) and 1 a their Stratopore filter, which uses synthetic media.
WIX makes good, quality paper filters. They are well made, have had no issues, and I've used them for years. Show me proof of a WIX filters continually failing. Good luck.
AMSOIL deals with WIX and Donaldson. The AMSOIL branded filters, the EaO oil filters, are actually Donaldson Endurance Nanofiber oil filters. They are a superior filter to a paper filter and IMO, superior to the Fleetguard Stratopore. In all fairness, I do believe that the Stratopore is still one of the finer oil filters available, but I feel the Nanofiber Donaldson does a better job. Personal preference I guess.
Walk into NAPA and buy an oil filter. NAPA buys filters from more than one manufacturer. One day, at one NAPA, you could be getting a NAPA filter made by Fram. One another day, you could pick up a filter that is badged the same and is made by WIX. NAPA buys from multiple suppliers based on what is most cost effective and what yields the highest margin of profit. NAPA Gold filters are usually even higher quality filters, normally WIX.
AMSOIL builds relationships with companies who make proven, reliable products, like WIX, Donaldson, Bosch, and now Mothers Car Care Products.
When buying filters from AMSOIL for our Cummins engines, I alway recommend running the Donaldson Endurance Nanofiber filter or the AMSOIL EaO oil filter, since in the case of the ELF7349 and EaO80, they are exactly the same filter.
