Good-bye EcoDiesel, Hello Cummins

Similar to my 19 Jeep GC, it's MOPAR filter is made in CHINA. GRRRRR

I hear you. I see that on my filters too for my EcoD. MOPAR box, China filter.

Right now with the 35 year old spin on filters folks use on their Cummins, you can easily get American made filters.

MOPAR is forcing you to use China filters.

What gives?! :(

The AMZ/OIL filter for the GC is CHINA, can't escape it..

Well, we talked about that before.
There was a time people said the same about Made in Japan, then it changed to all of a sudden be desirable to buy Made in Japan for their quality.

I can already see this now with Chinese Goods, by now they developed the knowledge and manufacturing techniques to produce great quality - now it all depends what the customer is willing to pay, get quality or get crap.
I buy occasionally direct from China, chose by myself what I want and most if not always the stuff I get is even better then expected.

On the other hand if I buy Chinese stuff in US stores I often get a mediocre quality or worse.
Conclusion - the bean counters buy the cheap (not the quality) stuff from China an sell it with a big price tag to the customer which feels cheated afterwards, and rightfully so.

Besides all the head/block changes, glow plugs, transmission... I want to know what the emissions technology they are employing. Will it be an electric DPF?

No one has given any hints other than it'll be different... how much different?

I get this from Stellantis: Split shaft systems that fit in previous years may not fit due to the new emission components.

You're nitpicking...do you think displacement is the only thing used to determine whether an engine is "new" or not? ********.

Be nice.

As a Gen 3 EcoD owner, my Gen 3 engine is 80% different than the Gen 2 engine. Can I call it a "new" engine? No. I look at this revamped 6.7l Cummins as just that. Another generation that is based off it's existing predecessor with updated ideas.

However in terms of a parts catalog perspective, it is a new engine and new short block. It will have a whole new part number for 2025 onward. Meaning you can't just plop in say a 2023 Cummins 6.7l in a 2025, and expect it to work out of the box running the same code on the ECU the same as one could do for 2021 thru 2024.

Changes this major warrant a 'new' designation. The 2013 engine was what I'd consider an 'update.' Otherwise, we can just call this a bored 'n stroked 5.9L.

lol, where did I say anything like that? There is a lot that goes into an all new engine.

The 2025 6.7 is not an all new engine, it’s an update, albeit a large one, to the current ISB 6.7.

So a 7.2 would be another update.
yeah, if sticking with the original architecture.. and just a bore and stroke job..

reminds me of working on L10's, and then they came out with the M11, and later the ISM.. and realizing they are all based on the same original designs.
same applies to the C series turning into the ISC and later on they come out with an ISL and you realize its just a stroked ISC with a different fuel system.

Sorry, been here for 12 hours now installing a new machine to be ready for launching the engine in question tomorrow. I've spent way too much time on this program over the past several years, so it irked me when it's being referred to as a simple update. He has no idea.

lol, you told me I said something I never did. Who has no idea?!

No one has mentioned it being a simple update, you’re just on a role today.

Please come back when you can be useful on the forum.

Do you mean you work on the machines that make these here Cummins engines?

If so, that is so sweet.

Give me a break. You've argued with me in the past concerning machines I owned here. I could provide some detailed info on this thing when it launches, but...nah. I think it's time for me to find the 'ignore' button instead.

When you come in with false accusations you don’t get a break and it’s quite funny that you think you deserve one.

Maybe it’s time to find the ‘decent member of TDR’ button. You’ve made some pretty bold, and false, accusations in this thread and that take away your credibility.

We all welcome good positive information, but what you’ve posted in this thread is anything but that. I know you can, when appropriate, provide more intel. That doesn’t allow you to tell me I’ve said things I didn’t. Slow down, re-read what you think I said, and try again. I can assure you that the frustrations you’re feeling are not based on what I actually posted or think.
