I just installed 215 injectors and 181 Delivery Valves in my 95 Auto yesterday. I don’t have a garage so any work on the truck involves a lot of walking between my driveway and my workshop (in the basement) for that one tool I forgot. If you’re in the same boat, hopefully this will help you out next time you have to change injectors and/or delivery valves.
The following is every single tool I used to change the injectors and DVs, along with a short comment about at least one place I used the tool (to the best of my recollection).
-injectors and DVs
-injector install kit (injector sealing washers, drain manifold washers)
-DV O-rings
-lots of shop towels
-q-tips (to clean injector bores)
-shop-vac and mini tool shop vac kit (to clean injector bores)
-anti-seize (for injectors)
-small grease gun (a dab of grease will keep the injector washers on during install)
-Torque wrenches (I used both my little 3/8 drive and bigger ½ drive for various fasteners)
- long ½ drive power bar (the delivery valves covers were on pretty tight)
-1/2 drive ratchet
-3/8 drive ratchet
-small screwdriver (for putting the injector retaining nut rubber o-rings in)
-combination wrenches; ¾ (injector line nuts, valve cover tin plate); 10mm (drain manifold bolts); 12mm (drain manifold bolt on top of fuel filter); 15/16 (don’t remember what I used it for)
-3/8 drive sockets; deep 7/16 (intake horn rubber boost tube clamp); 10mm; short extension
-1/2 drive sockets; deep 15/16 (injector retainer nuts); 15/16 (for lugnut), short extension
-3/4 pipe close nipple and a lug nut (for removing injector…I couldn’t believe how great this worked)
-dental pick (to remove DV O-rings)
-needle nose pliers (to take out DVs)
-step stool (for reaching #5 and #6 injectors)
Hope this can help somebody out.
Ron
