My '06 Turbo Diesel 3500 with 65,000 miles has a 4x4, 4 speed automatic transmission developed a fluid leak just behind the oil pan. It only leaked a few drops on the garage floor over a two week period. I got a check engine light a week ago and took it the dealer. They got a code 91740 transmission and suggested a solenoid pack and torque converter for 2 grand on about a 10 hour job. Is this reasonable?

can't even find that code? I wouldn't put another crappy chrysler TC in my truck. What's your location? Is the transmission doing anything different?

Maybe this code if they can't spell correctly, P1740 TCC Overdrive Solenoid Performance.

That usually means a bad solenoid. The solenoid pack and harness is usually $40-50. Unless you have other issues you haven't noted the TC is not needed at this time.

While you are it it this is also probably a good idea http://www.electricaladvantage.net/rehdsolenoidsensorkit00.aspx.

The leak is hard to tell, it could just be a loose pan bolt or cracked OD housing, nedd to check that out closer.

Thanks for the info. It is discouraging to have so few miles (65k) and have this problem but I still love the engine.

Cerb it appears that site is offline .

It hasn't been until this weekend. It is not going to the but bucket so my guess is they chose the long weekend to revamp their site. Have to wait and see if it comes back.
