Tire pressure sensor recall

Today, when I had my truck at the dealer for a radio problem, they informed me there is a recall on the Tire Pressure Sensors for my truck. I do get the wrong pressure once in a while but it resets itself after a shutdown and is OK again. I never bothered to complain about it. I just figured it was an electronic quirk and forgot about it.

They ordered the new sensors but said they are in short supply and it will be several months before they are available.

If you have a similar truck as my signature and get pressure readings that are 10-20 pounds below normal on one tire but check good with a gauge and correct themselves later, you have the problem. It can be a different tire each time. First time I saw it, I thought I ran over a nail or something.

I've experienced this exact problem several times with Slobber. Because it happens so infrequently, I just assumed it was some sort of weird, temporary, radio interference problem and never bother to bring it up at a dealer. In fact, I'd completely forgotten about it until your post!

There's nothing on the recall page for my truck though, so it must not rise to the level of a recall. Maybe it's just a TSB?

John, dealer called it a "recall" but no recalls show for my truck either. On the printout I received it's called an RRT. It shows as RRT 15-020, sensors on back order.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer may notice a message “Service Tire Pressure System” displayed on the cluster. On further inspection, the technician may find one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):

NOTE: The cluster will always display the low tire indicator if the tire pressure is under specification, or if there is a DTC set in the TPM system. If a DTC is set, the indicator will flash for 75 seconds, and then stay on solid when the vehicle is started.​

A tsb is info on a known issue and recommended repair for when a customer reports a specific concern.An rrt is supposed to be done when the vehicle comes in for any reason no customer complaint or concern need be reported.

Looks like they did the air bag recall and a PCM flash in January. It appears they missed this on your VIN.

RAPID RESPONSE TRANSMITTAL (RRT) 15-020 MUST BE PERFORMED. REFER TO THE RRT DOCUMENT FOR REPAIR
PROCEDURES.
