Since this recall is in regards to an improperly manufactured nut, that can loosen (per the recall), it doesn't sound like torquing it is a long term fix.

You are correct! It isn't. I've tightened mine several times to the correct specifications.

Had trouble with this loosening up with about 12K on truck. Steering wheel would be offset and truck would pull to the right. After my personal inspection, I found these nuts loose. Drove in a flat large parking lot and adjust nut back to center. Pull was gone. I use locktite on the threads and torqued everything down to specks. Now 40K and still holding strong. It appear that no adjustment will be able to be made, if one welds the adjusters together. No Bueno. My 2cents worth.

I do understand it should not have been connected, however when I adjusted the bar, centering the wheel it stopped. I can't explain it. Logically there isn't any reason it would have caused it. Anyway, fixing the one cured the other.

I've been involved with this post for awhile just wanted to share . I was so upset with FCA and dealerships response to this issue , all I wanted was yes or no if there was going to be a replacement link down the road instead of the weld job fix never could get answer . I took a chance and hand wrote letter to the CEO of FCA expressing my concerns about the fact no more adjustment, welding and electronics issue and the fact that there is an issue with the thread engagement and a tack weld is not going to hold it together I wanted the improved link . I also sent pic of a very bad weld job done by dealer . I had appointment to do the weld fix later in may ,was going to make them remove the link and bench weld it put back on just so I could clear the recall then get it home and replace it with Synergy link which I bought . Then I started getting calls from FCA and then the dealer ( The big guy must have read my letter ) that they are not going to weld on my truck and provided new upgraded link which they rushed me in to do today . Squeaky wheel got oiled I guess
long post but stick up for yourself Here is the new link with pic of service order notice Dealership has been ordered to open star case to order drag link. ( Sent the Synergy one back ) Hope this helps you guys out

Called Ram Customer Care, in regards to back order of part CSZHV061AA. I explained I do not want any welding done while part was on truck, and as this is not an acceptable repair. Was told local dealer will be able to get when part is released in June. They also let me know the dealer will be calling me when part is in for me. We shall see....

I just got off the phone with Customer Care and she said I have to get it inspected first to see if it requires a new upgraded drag link. Otherwise it gets welded. I was adament they are not going to weld on my truck, and she just said "that's your choice".......grrrrrrr.

that's what I thought would happen ....... I am just out of fight anymore

No need to get fired up about this. Simply make sure your NUTS are tight.
What gets me is the cheesy way they are addressing the problem. High dollar trucks and they're going to turn an adjustable part into a non-adjustable part. It's adjustable for a reason. I worked on cars my entire life and have no problem keeping the nuts tight, but I shouldn't have to. I will probably go get there half-assed "fix" just to clear it off the recall list, then invest in a Synergy and be done with it.

I guess my question is on all of this is why bother to fix it if there is no problem with it. Mine has never come loose its still lined up with the paint marks. So far I have just ignored the recall, and have no plans to do anything, unless they do decide to just replace with a new improved part.

My truck now is over 5 years old, if it was going to have a problem with this drag link it would have. I will continue to do like I have ,check it periodically for any issues.
