Too bad your trailer jack isn't about 2 inches from your dropped tail gate. Then you would be like me. You could easily load and unload stuff and Dogs without worring about it denting the tail gate.
You could even leave it down and back your trailer around your subdivision circle and Smash...
We have had this discussion a lot regarding Jeeps(The front axle is basically the same design, just the CTD's parts are bigger) with front end death wobble after a lift.
The answer was Caster, Caster, Caster, Caster, and Caster. 8-) So an alignment may help.
I have personally fixed one...
From what I understand they add one more spring to the rear spring pack. It's an overload spring. This increases the weight you can carry in the Truck bed, but lowers your towing weight by 50 pounds(which is nothing)
The 3500 also has running lights, about 5 lights over the cab and maybe some...
I finally got around to spending some time in the shop. I got one side of my nerfs bars built and attached to my truck. I put some pictures in my readers rigs section.
My ideas were to create a small set of bars that are up tight and strong enough to act as a step. I only put 2 brackets on...
So a leveling Kit, or a spacer pack, or new coils will all do the same thing with the angles on the front suspension. They raise the frame of the truck away from the axle. The 5 links, 4 control arms and a drag link that hold the axle under the Truck stay a fixed length so the agle of the axle...
For a couple of low budget options:
1) Skateboard Grip Tape. You could just put it on top of the tube where you want a step.
2) DuraLiner. This is a do it your self roll on liner that is available in quarts at most auto stores. I have used it one a few jeep parts with good results. But 1)...
Thanks Guys, I just bought one of these and I didn't even know I needed it until I got on here. 8-) My old one was jerky and had a short, so I guess maybe I did need a new one.
$84. 99 plus $7. 00 s&h fee = $91. 99 Sold.
Seems like I saved enough to cover my membership here. *-)...
Scott, I saw these (using search) and I was very impressed. They look great. I would like to see some close up pictures about the mounting system you used. I'm working on a strong design I'm just having trouble with fasteners, I need to find a strong wing nut type thing for easy installation...
So I am at a loss on how to make a strong enough mount to hold the weight of the truck on some "Rock sliders" How stong is the cab at the bottom where the 3 sheet metal panels come together. I know on my Jeep the Rocker Panel protectors I bought are just mounted to the Sheet metal at the base...
KS_Cummins, Did you need to drill to mount these?
Even for smaller self tapping screws?
I did a search here for "Drilling AND Frame" and read
all the posts, and the Dodge TSB. The conclusion is
you can drill small holes in the middle part of the
frame, BUT I would rather not. Most...
I would be interested in getting your ideas on some real Rocksliders for our full size Trucks. There are lot's of manufacturers of Rock sliders for Jeep and Toyotas, but my search came up short for our Trucks.
I have the tools and I am starting to Fab some Jeep Parts in my spare time, If...
