Only works on '04's and up, there are no 03. 5, you've got an 03 or an 04. If it's an 04 built after what ever date is in the TSB and you have an auto then it will work.

Lightman I think you are absolutely correct. Since I bought my truck new, I have filled w/ 12 qts. and have always had bad crankcase odors (no jokes). My last 2 oil changes I have only added 11 qts. and now the smell has completely gone away. My oil level shows right in the middle of the stick.

For the gauge, I hooked up both lights to the dimmer, the two hot leads went to the orange-brown wire behind the headlight switch, and the two black leads go to ground. It's much easier to see at night this way.

Get the Diesel Dynamics line to put on the trans outlet line. That is what I am getting. It's $80 but already has a 1/8" port for the probe. It gives the hottest readings (most accurate). The ports on the side of the trans. can be inaccurate IMO.

Thread ? I don't remember exactly but I think that thread is 3/4NPT, not 1/2". The actual plug OD if it is 3/4NPT should be close to an inch or so. FYI there is no such thing as a metric tapered thread (Pipe thread). There is a BSPT but it is not that either.

You can use any 75W90 full synthetic GL-5 rated. It says that in my manual (I think). Mobil 1 is what I used. Gasket is reusable, easy as pie.
