No it didnt. A buddy of mine that did a similar swap into an 08 told me what he did. He adapted the 4.7 tone ring to the cummins balancer and built a bracket for the crank sensor. Now his tach, oil pressure, and ac clutch work properly. I'm going to copy him on that. How did that effect the stock guages from working ?
Thanks man.It shines in the right places! K5IP.
He is supposed to send me pics today. I'll post then when he does. The crank sensor is the key for most things on the Dodge gas ecm. It controls the tach, oil pressure, and ac compressor factory system. How did he do that , id like to see that , what is the trick ? Does that only affect the tach ? I know on full size class 8 trucks (Peterbilts,Kenworths etc ) for electric tachs they put a sensor in the bell housing but no mods to the flywheel
The v10 might have it inside attached to the crank. My 4.7 did. Had to tear a core motor apart.Mine was a v 10 and i do have the harmonic balancer from that as i cant renember if the sensor is on the back or the front ? On those
Were you and your buddie both running 90 engine ?
As the 91.5 up had factory tach provisions on the engine , as my 92 has the sensor just above the harmonic balancer
Yes I bought a beans diesel sump kit for mine and a fass pump. I just ran a 1/4" hose from the return line down the rail next to the actual fuel line and into the top of the tank. I actually used the old fuel pump line on the truck as the return line in the top. I removed the actual sending unit but left the float system in the tank. What did you do to the stock line to use it for a return line ,I'm thinking about buying a sump kit just so I don't have to run the return hose so crazy
You could but I didn't like how my fuel line looked and it was 10 years old. I just decided to run a new one.Why could a person just use the whole set up s a return line ?
