Well guys, I am kinda thinking of selling the truck. Am I nutz? Heres the deal, I drive it maybe two times a week, if that. It hasnt moved in the past 12 days actually. About the only thing I have used it for is plowing my drive way when is snows, which hasnt been much in the past few weeks. I have a personal work van, that I drive all the time. It replaced my truck as a work vehicle, and now the truck just sits. I really like having the 4x4 in the winter, but a 2wd loaded down van really aint that bad. Plus, i found out that last year, every job that my brother and I met at to give customers a quote on remodel work, when I drove my truck, we didnt get. Not that its directly connected, but it does make you kinda wonder. Sad that people would be that shallow that they base who gets thier money to work on thier house by the vehicle the people drive. But, it wouldnt be the first I had heard of this, have a good friend that figured out that when he drove his wifes suburban, he got the job, when he drove his little beat up mini-van, no job...

So... am I crazy? I can haul just about anything in the Van (Ram B2500) and it rides a lot nicer than the CTD. In all honesty, I could sell my truck, put the D60/80 I have sitting next to the garage under the Van, and make it 4wd for next to nothing if I really missed the 4x4. And if I ended up missing a Diesel vehicle, I bet a P-pumped 4bt would fit under the hood and net me some insane mileage for fairly cheap.

My biggest obstical it would seem is that my truck is far from stock, and perfect, so I have no idea how I could sell it. It has 3rd gen axles, 5" lift with no way of going back to stock due to a long arm Fabtech Kit. Stacks, no muffler, and plenty of pin stripping from nature and a nice texture thanks to mother nature and her "ice cubes". The hail damage is not that bad, but its there.

I think the biggest thing though... is I am actually contemplating getting a Car. Looking into a Charger R/T with the 5. 7 Hemi with MDS. If they had a CRD option, I might look into it, but I cant afford new, so its going to be used anyway, and well, there isnt any diesels yet.

Guys, have I lost my mind, or am I just "growing up" and realizing that a big, loud, aggressive truck is just not important anymore?

To my mind, you've lost yours. ;) If the truck is paid for, it hurts absolutely nothing to keep it. When I retire this year and the wife and I go cruising on the sailboat, I'm keeping mine. Will park it with her parents and they will drive it every couple of weeks.

I would keep it. Its not costing you anything but insurance, plus someday you might kick yourself in the rear for getting rid of it! Been there, done that!:-laf

Hey, Alpha, I'm in the same boat as you. Company truck by week, and with a 3 year old and an infant we cant take take the truck on the weekend trips.

BUT, it's fun to drive, a real treat after a week in the F550.

I do have a camper and haul around some old tractors in the summer, so in my case there is a need for the trcuk, even if for mere hundreds of miles a year.

It went from seeing ~30k miles/yr to less than 3k mi/yr now, but I'm keepin' it till its totaly wore out. Then I'll fix her up and go again.

My friend thought the same and sold his ctd. Now he has payments on his newer one. Right now you have a good running truck that you can tow, take in the hills, bend a little, hunt, fish, go camping, drive over your daughters boyfriend, haul stuff to your remodel jobs, etc. Think of it more as a piece of equipment for Alphacowboy INC. You wouldn't sell a tractor or a trailer because you only used it a couple of times every so often. Besides an newer car is going to lose 10-15% of its value in the first year. Why work as hard as you do for payments?

If I recall you do flooring for work. Then you do remodels. Why not enjoy the truck you have worked your butt off for instead of getting into something else. You kind of deserve a bit of a break instead of needing a little more O. T. or that extra remodel.

As for getting the remodels try a couple of magnetic company signs on the doors of your truck. Get some Tee shirts that have your company name on them. It looks like you are a business that does this everyday and not as a side job. Start reading a few books by Dave Ramsey.

Heck, you only just turned 30!!:-laf I'll be 44 here soon:eek:#@$%! and still have 2 big, loud, aggressive trucks. . and looking for possibly another one !!

FWIW, I waited a long time to get my truck and set it up the way I like it.

Every time I mention selling it, my DW says "you would regret it almost as soon as you sold it. Besides if you bought another one, youd have to spend the money to get it set up like the one now. "

My decision is to keep it.
