Ok It's been a while since my last update but I've been busy working, camping, hiking and working on ole Rex as well. All I had left to remove was the block and crank. I used the crane and dropped it onto a pallet dragged it out from underneath the bus and removed the crank and threw the block in the scrap pile. What you are looking at is the torque convertor from the transmission.
Next we laid the "new" engine on a pallet sideways, which turned out to be harder than I thought it would be to do, and rolled the pallet under the bus. I was able to scrounge up a pallet that would fit between the legs of the crane and the bus was just high enough to clear the fuel lines. I had not mounted the turbo on the engine to make it lower.
We got the engine mounted to the trans and when doing up the rear mount on the RH side I discovered that it had broken when I undid it. The cap had separated from the threaded inset so I had to order a new one. It would have been real easy to change it with the engine out but that was not to be the case. Due to a misunderstanding I ended up with both rear mounts. I "might " change the LH one... later.
