Suggestion about Big Bend

Non-rooftop AC?

A difference of only130 lbs? I find that hard to believe.
I'm just looking at the 2004 brochure and the difference in payload between the two --

RAM 3500 QC 4x4 Hemi = 4750 lbs, Cummins = 4660 difference = 90lbs (the 130 lb number is for a 4x2).

OTOH if I look at a RAM 2500 QC 4x4 Hemi = 2760, Cummins = 2270 difference = 490 lbs.

Now I'm just confused since I thought all 3500s had the same GVW. Maybe not (and i'ts not listed. )

Hello Road Dog

with our 2007 3500 DRW we can easily haul 5000 lbs with the addition of the SuperSpring to level the truck out. Our 9. 5 Kodiak with it's options is 3600 dry. Loaded wet with gear we sometimes see 5000 LBS. Wife insisted on a DRW... I was all in favour. Life is very relaxed when we go on holidays with the right truck under the Kodiak.
If you want to read more about truck campers, check out North American Truck Camper Owners Association. North American Truck Camper Owners Association. They have a wealth of info on Truck Campers and what you should look at for TCers.
Your weight distribution will only put at most, 200 LBS on the front axle. Almost all your weight will be on the rear axle. Look at your rear axle rating along with your tire and wheel rating for what you can carry. A SRW truck should go with 19. 5 tires and rims to carry a 10ft TCer unless it is a fold down.

We just returned from a 2300 mile trip and saw some very functional and roomy slide-ins mounted on drw trucks. It's the safe way to go with a big hardside. Some tow a Jeep or ricer for running around. :)
