Anyone know where to get cb antennas anymore ? I broke mine the other day. I dont remember what it is called, but it would be the kind that mounts usually next to the hood and just screws into a mount, rather than a magnetic roof top. I prefer some kind of retail rather than on the internet.

Finding CB antennas "in the wild" these days is pretty much limited to truck stops and Amateur radio shops (although not all Ham shops want anything to do with CB, and others are quite happy playing both sides.)

Major truck stops (T/A, Petro, Flying J, Pilot, Sapp Brothers, etc.) will almost always have a selection of a few brands, makes and models.

Radio Shack still carries a few models, but most retail stores will have one or two at best, and most likely left over from the first Bush administration...and IMO Radio Shack's antennas are pure junk unless you're going for a 108" steel whip.

The base/attachment you're describing is pretty much an industry standard 3/8" fine-thread mount, so should be pretty easy to replace once you find an outlet.

The nearest truckstop should have something. I prefer Francis 4.5 ft or 5.5 ft. www.firestik.com will have the stainless steel fender mount. They have a good coax too but I'm not very fond of their antennas because they are not very flexible and they're heavy....

I can't remember the name of it right now, but there is a large CB shop in the Seattle area. A Google search should turn it up. Also CB World comes to mind.

Firestick is a pretty good brand with lots of choices. You can find them here,
