Attention: TDR Forum Junkies 
My wife teaches 1st grade - and believe me it's not what I learned in 1st grade - they are doing so much stuff than I did 50 years ago - it's amazing. One of the things they do is have the kids write a letter to Santa. They usually all write about the latest little gizmo's etc, and occassionally she gets some that are beyond touching. For example in years past she received one from a little boy asking for his (terminally ill mom) to get better.
This year she found one that instead of asking for all the latest fade stuff - all a little boy wanted was a better pair of sneakers. They didn't have to be new mind you or a certain brand - just better than the tattered ones he had. Well Santa can sometimes answer their wishes - sometimes not.
I guess that at this time of year don't forgot that there are lots of kids out there, that through TERRIBLE parental situations are having a hard time. Look around and see if you can help a little one at this magical time of year.
