DEF from gas station pump ok?

Until now, I've always bought from gas stations thinking that the DEF was more fresh. Over the labor day weekend, I stopped for DEF and right after got a Service DEF warning. Pulled the code when I got home and it was a reductant quality error code. I think it was P207F. Drained the DEF and refilled with new from a box (approx 2 months old based on the date code). Error code cleared and now the truck is fine.

Never getting it from a truck stop again.

How did you drain it?
This is when I wish I were there with my refractometer.

Was this a busy, name brand truck stop?

DEF codes always seem to come, if they do, is just after topping it off. I think I have read it runs a test on the fluid when it sees it's level go way up.

It was a Simmons Truck stop. I don't know how busy it was - there were a couple trucks there. Not Love's busy - but not tumbleweed slow either.

To drain it, I disconnected the filler tube from the DEF tank and put a clean transfer hose in. I remove about 4 gallons and reconnected everything. Marion Blair has a video on Youtube that shows you how to do it if needed.

I'm going to buy a refractometer for the future as well.
