When your trying to get back home in the spring you will know who to call when you can't find any!

That's a great option as we have not traveled that route for a few years!!!

I would keep a couple 2.5's but being in the warmer weather for the winter months I am not sure it's a good idea.

Hoarders I say!!!

I am concerned about it. I use a jug every 1k miles. Glad I have my old trucks to fall back on.

It appears that Urea is made out of ammonia, which is made out of natural gas or coal. Ammonia is used in fertilizer, so big competition for it. Potash is huge in fertilizer so the push is to use more of that, but like all mining that get frowned on by.... We have a huge deposit here but it got shut down before it even started. There are only two mines in the US, one in Utah and one in New Mexico.

No problem finding it here in Western NY. Home Depot 2 miles away has 34 on the shelf, Autozone across the street from Home Depot has full shelves as well.

I might consider contesting the price of bulk vs. jugs nowadays....

Actually it's $15.28 total with $1.29 tax on the $13.99 Jug. So $6.11 a gal.

For another $1.00 I could have gotten the "Peak" labeled box also "on sale", but, unanswered questions if the plastic bottle and fill neck was any better about NOT leaking. They even had the B.S. marketing "Peak" box so one can pay even more. What was the RAM dealer DEF price again? :D

But there is more to price than just price. If and only IF I have a need to run to the area by a DEF pump I will use it. Otherwise it's 45 min each way and I would burn more than $15.28 in Diesel Fuel. Although you can get DEF at more places than you can get Diesel fuel: DEF at a pump is very rare. (Overlay the Gas Buddy Diesel stations on the DEF locations below.) The one I do use is on the big rig island with the 8 cent higher Arizona tax on it for "road tractor, truck tractor, truck or passenger carrying vehicle having a declared gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds or having more than two axles." At least they have two lower tax high speed pumps, but, no DEF at them.

In general, $3.86 is still a good buy v/s most jugs at $14-$15 if it is not on sale. Walmart is $8.12 but they are out again. I am gonna be mad if I have to buy Platinum @ $20 a jug:D Most stores have it but dang I hate paying the high price...at least for now....:)

how much for 12 quarts?

If you watch for sales you can get it well under $20/gallon - generally $17-18. Then take advantage of Mobil rebates which they run several months each year @ $9/gallon. My last purchase I ended up with a 4 gallon case for less than $40 after rebates.

As to DEF prices....at least it isn't this bad. Yet?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...-critical-diesel-fuel-ingredient-DOUBLES.html

Fuzzy math conversion would put that pump price at around $8/gallon.
