DEF - how many miles will a tank last?

Just topped off my DEF and Fuel tank. Got 320 miles on the truck. How many miles will a tank of DEF last?

Towing a 10,500# 5th wheel and getting 11.8 mpg, I can get about 2000 miles (about 3% of fuel consumed).

Cummins says to expect about 2.5%.

My last tank I got almost 6k on DEF. Granted I was not towing anything and driving it daily. Now it is at 2k and hasn't moved yet due to the fact I got a cheap gas car and am driving that right now. So I have parked truck in the shop.

On the 2016 6.7 2500, I put one jug in to the DEF tank after buying new. I'm about 2,400 miles towed a small light boat and it is the only thing I drive. it hasn't moved since topping the tank off

About 4-5K hauling our toyhauler. I've just always topped it off before trips and never return with less than 1/2 a tank of DEF.

I got 7,500 miles on mine before putting two 2.5 gal. jugs into it and that is with mix normal driving and towing my tilt trailer and tractor off and on at around 11,000 lbs.....

I've got about 5K miles and have just added my 3rd 2.5 gal DEF container (plus whatever was in it from the factory). Most of the miles are towing with 5k in the bed and towing a 7K trailer. Seems like a lot to me.

Word of wisdom carry some extra DEF whenever driving the AlCan highway, along some of the long stretches the local gas stops don't carry it. Not pulling the trailer have about a half tank left on a fill up about 3000 miles ago.

You are using 5 gallons in 800 miles????? Something is wrong there. I get between 600 and 800 MPG DEF. You should get around 3000 miles per tank DEF.

New 2016 one ton dually truck towing 16,500 pound 5th wheel over 3k miles, AVG 10.4 MPG and used one gallon DEF every 350 miles.

Guess if I would have quit passing Powerjokes while going thru the mountains pulling 16K+ might have gotten better. Hated following behind some of the fellow travelers that would slow down before coming to steep grades and have no passing areas for many many miles. Read in the owners manual to break in the Cummings motor like you stole it, so that's what I did. Traded in an early 04 2500 for this beast. This thing has no horsepower... it has ox power. I have the 68RFE trans, would love to see what the Aisin would do. Without the trailer I've filled up once in maybe 3k most of those miles have been in town and short trips.

Just had the DEF Low warning and then the "5 mph in 200 miles" warning today. First warning came after 3400 miles of mostly towing and the 5 mph warning about 100 miles later. So that's about a 300 mile warning prior to the 5 mph limit. About 50 miles after the 5 mph warning I was just barely able to put a full 5 gallons of DEF in the truck. DEF gauge seems to go down rather fast after it gets into the red.

My 3500 is a C&C with the 9 gal tank.. The gauge is VERY inaccurate!! Will stay on full forever, but once it gets below 3/4 it drops fast.. Yesterday at 3/4 gauge, I put 5 gal in and the tank did not bubble full. With a 5 gal tank I would do as Cummins12V98 said..
