pros and cons for dually

Would be great for you 5th wheelers

A couple of weeks ago I was out at one of the ranches near here and one of the hired help went by on a Polaris diesel four wheel drive ATV I gotta find out more!!

I was interested in the Polaris Diesel too but wisdom prevailed.

#1, I had to help a neighbor work on his sportsman 500 4wd, what a mess. had to just about disassemble the whole thing to fix the recoil starter and carb.

#2 A diesel would be just as bad to work on, and can you imagine trying to get the minimum wage "mechanics" they have working (here at least) at the shops to actually be able to fix a diesel?:-{}

They are way too complicated to work on for me to buy one. Perhaps all the new ones are like that:confused:

I sure like the idea though!!

I have the older John Deere Gator, the AMT600 which has 5 wheels, four in back, 1 front. Not a diesel but it can go just about anywhere an ATV can. If you want a diesel, I would go with the JD Gator. It will carry more stuff and comes with 2 seats, side by side.

The mule has a 1000cc 3 cyl diesel with lots of torque. Acceleration is impressive. Sounds cool too, the air intake is at the top of the roll cage-right by the ear. :D

No more

Polaris discontinued the Diesel Sportsman a couple years back. :( It didn't go over very well and they were pretty slow and loud. (which I like):D I've got 2 Polaris 4x4 now and no problems out of either of them. :) It's all in how you take care of them, do your maintenance right and they will last for ever. I'm thinking of looking for a used diesel Polaris to add to my collection;) I've done found a few ways to BOMB it. :p

I bought my Polaris Sportsman 500 HO about six months ago. 2001 was the last year the remainder were manufactured and sold only early in the year. My dealer told me they had a straggler that had sold about a month before I got there to buy mine. He also said they were very popular with farmers, guys who run a fleet of various diesel vehicles and equipment and logically would like an ATV to do various work and have it run on diesel as well. I thought about how I could tweak one of those, then went and tweaked my 500. I would like to get the body for the diesel and put it on mine... . It was a cool blue color.

We have some diesel gators at work 4x6 and they are very dependable , but dont leave them outside overnite below 0 degrees :eek:
