Wade,

a very good friend of mine is a doctor

he told me that if I were going to injest anything with the intent of altering my concious state, it should be marijuana! says that marijuana is hands-down the safest thing you could do... safer than coffee even...

That's funny, I have cycling friends in their mid thirties who can kick my butt on the trail _and_ smoke up at the top of the hill. --but then they don't smoke cigarettes. So that cans the 'bad for the lungs' theory. Not saying it's good, but it ain't like 2 packs a day or even half the crap I breath working on cars and equipment. These guys are seriously athletic. I'm only comically athletic--but I have finished all my races.

oh, sheet it's 4:21!;)

it's much easier on the lungs... less tars, and they're fairly readily absorbed by the body whereas tobacco tar just lingers there and lines your lungs... it's actually a bronchiodialator, and if filtered through a waterpipe can HELP an athsmatic in small doses...

ever notice that the smell of pot clears out pretty quickly, but tobacco smoke smell lingers forever!?

Forrest <-- hates cigarettes (but has been known to take a big fat chew about once a year! ;) )

:D That's why I enjoy a good cigar now and them. No lung burn (why? 'cause ya don't inhale cigar smoke. Not that it still doesn't get into your lungs..... ) and the aroma is, to me anyway, sooooooo sweeeeeettttt..... :D

My $. 02

started drinking way to young. Joined the army and got worse. I am glad I did'nt own a car then. Managed to quit buy age 23. 16 years sober. I don't like beer commercial. A bad immage for children. I don't believe in prohibition. When was the last time you saw someone in a beer commercial vomiting in the gutter? Alcohol, beer or wine (makes no difference) are about the worst substance man can ingest. Several best friend have died drinking. When you ask me if I'd like a beer, and I respectfully say no thank. Please don't ask me twice! My best Mate is now in rehab, and I hope and Pray to got she Gets well again. To each his own, but I don't believe "most peaple can handle it". Some of us learn sooner than others. Some go through years of pain. Others never overcome. A great number are killed or kill by the consumption of ALCOHOL. Be it by car, knife, gun, street fight or jumping of a cliff makes no differance. Mean while, senators and congressmen sit drinking bourbon & scotch on the rocks refusing to leagalize marijuana. Man that's a hypocracy. No, I don't smoke it either!

I always keep a couple of 6 packs of Corona in the garage fridge.

But only drink one (two on special occasions) a night, that maybe only a couple of times a week.

I might go a week or two without one.

But I have friends and acquaintances who definitely need professional help. :(

I hardly drink at all. I will drink a beer every now and then, but especially since I have gotten my concealed carry license, I don't drink much (in quantity or frequency). I do like Shiner Bock though.

Haven't been to Germany lately have you? Beer was the cheapest beverage on the menu at EVERY restaraunt... ...

well.......

i haven't had a drink in 18 months... . since i was diagnosed as a diabetic. not that i drank all that much anyway. JD and coke was my choice tho... .

When I was a teenager, back in the sixties, we used to cut out of Sunday Evening Church and go to the Mom and Pop store down the street, for a quick snack. The store owner always tried to get me to buy a beer, and kept reminding me that it was cheaper than pop.

not even old enough to drink, but that's besides the point. i don't. the peer pressure hasn't gotten to me, and i ignore those who think that i'm not cool or whatever. social drinking is ok, but there's always that fine line. addiction stinks (diet pepsi/coke for me-not as bad at least). beer? na, but diesel fuel on the other hand...

:-laf

my veins consist of diesel, why not just drink it? think about it. it's somewhat refined. it burns, but does a good job of cleaning when at high temps. the soot goes out the tailpipe and warns drivers to the side and behind you.
