Austin, you are correct, you will need a copilot to keep your TC locked up.
When I had my trans built,I went with a BD valve body & had my internals built as well. I got a great deal on the VB & would get one on the EB as a member of the TDR. Speaking with the guy at BD, he said their VB's played nice with their EB's electronics.(trying to remember back 2 yrs) Living in AK,it costs a small fortune to buy name brand trans,& get it shipped.. When I went with the BD VB, I can feel it keep the TC locked to about 15 mph. It isn't acting like an exhaust brake by any means, it's just one of those things you notice. I haven't installed a exhaust brake yet and since I only drive my truck in the winter, not sure if I will. Good luck with your upgrade.
