No problem. Wanted to add this for anyone following my case:

The forgot to charge me my $100 deductible. But they did charge $330 me for a (sort of unnecessary) fob which included the labor to program it to the truck.

Their initial diagnosis was the fob was bad. But it wasn't the key/fob.... It was the fried computer that was the problem. But since their trouble shooting would not go any further if i didn't approve them to issue me the new fob, i was forced to approve the fob. And they of course are going to charge me for anything i approve even if it was due to their initial faulty diagnosis/ troubleshooting

Awesome, I'm glad you got it back to normal. :)

I know! I thought it might be the neutral safety switch. But with these new computers controlling everything. I'm almost wondering if that switch that detects if the clutch is depressed is actually tied into the PCM. There was no obvious loss of functionality except it wouldn't crank

I'm sure they eliminated that in trouble shooting, in fact, I bet it was the first step.

Maybe. But as soon as they saw the computer not recognizing the fob. They knew there was a problem with either the PCM or fob. Me as a back yard mechanic with no computer equipment.... That would be my first step.

When an aftermarket service contract wants to cut the dealers price the device writer can pus the company to increase what they will pay by quoting from an industry accepted labor guide. The aftermarket companys should be using them already, They do not normally pay from a warranty time but will not pay more for parts than true msrp. The dealer can also ask the customer to pay the difference between what the contract offers to pay and what the customer pay quote would be.
Fca pays the dealer a very fair mark up on warranty parts

Is MVP Max Care considered an aftermarket warranty?

Yes it does. Thanks for taking the time to find that for me.

I need to get under there when it gets cooler and see if the connection has juice. I was wondering if all the newer computers don't have that missing programming...... Or if they ( newer computers) do have the missing programming.

I suspect it's ok because FCA updated my VIN to have the rear fuel filter heater. So the programming should match my VIN????

It was a problem of the VIN not being associated with the proper installed equipment from the factory with the new 2013's.

The fuel heater has been necessary for some winter trips up north.

Looks like i may have a slow leak from a brake line. I guess i will need to see if my MaxCare covers brakes. Almost looks like maybe vibration and corrosion?

I may have to wait until we get to our destination, tho. West coast. Brakes work fine and slow loss from the reservoir.

Well, i sure am getting alot of mileage out of my maxcare. Getting it aligned and they tell me the ball joints are going bad.

Maxcare specifically lists them as covered.

comrade newsa - did the dealer tell you the ball joints were bad? somewhere i thought i read that some up/down " play " is normal - just no side to side. i could be way wrong. i just remember reading something like that. glad you got the warranty. seems like a good investment. cheers!

I got it aligned at an independent shop. They fixed the issue of pulling to the right. But i can feel a little of it in the front. I think the ball joints are on their way out. It doesn't feel like it did new.

He said all 4. I only feel a little of it in the front

The independent alignment guy told me about the ball joints. I'll get those done under warranty at a dealer on my trip out west next week or in a couple of weeks.

how many miles on your rig? just curious. thank you sir!

Independent shop may not be aware of the wear tolerance given by Fca or just trying for the up sale

Maybe. But it felt alot more tight when driving when it was new. So i just made an appt for next week friday in Denton, Tx. We will be visiting the soon-to be-mother-in-law there.

Girlfriend says she wants to marry me for my pension.
