Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Flashing Wait to Start Light After Engine Start

This morning my pickup started normally, but after starting the Wait to Start light started flashing and the Check Engine light remained illuminated. I've tried several additional starts, driving around, and pulling the negative leads from both batteries--nothing solved it. Any ideas? Wouldn't you know it, I was going to get a SMOG check today, but that won't go well with the CEL on.

What happens if you disconnect the grid relays?

My best guess. Look for an open in the inlet air temp sensor. It is either unplugged, has a broken wire or the sensor is bad.

On the 95's a flashing wait to start light is an indication of a failed/bad PCM.

I just got back from a camping trip. I'll check the wiring to the temp sensor right now.

It was a broken wire leading to the inlet air temperature. It was a quick fix and everything is back to normal.
