The Night before Christmas

Like "rolling coal" ??

Chris,

I'll be the first to say that you do have a h*ll of a nice ride, even though it is only half of a truck :D . I know the types your talking about, I get the same looks. If I could I would give the 191 treatment to them, but all I can do is give them a blast of diesel heat in the window 'cause you know how my exhaust tip is pointing due North  .

That'll do it...

Charlan - I can't find your link, can you post it (re-post it). Those looks like that guy had at you will really get to ya. But you know, those people are in their own world, most or all of them don't appreciate what you have because they don't know anything about it, and they don't care to. I'm a design engineer for a major automotive company and you'd think the guys I work with would be motor heads like me. But these guys here are the biggest yuppie snobs & geeks you can imagine (kind of like the geeky scientist/engineer character on The Simpson's). I'll ride to lunch with someone and I'll have nothing but good to say about his ride whether I truelly like it or not, and all they can say to me is, "why do you want such a big loud redneck truck?" No more going to lunch with that D/A. And, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, there's guys here that DON'T even know how to check their own oil level. I personally know of one guy who's never opened the hood on his snobmobile.

My point is, those smurks, grins, & gestures from other people are best taken with a grain of salt because the vast majority doesn't have a clue and doesn't want to get a clue and certainly can't understand the smoke. I like Champane Flight's fortitude to shut'er down and learn that kid at the drive through. That's the way to go. Personally, to those people who have or will smirk at me, I decided I wouldn't make it worse by smokin' 'em, unless they pull some stupid traffic move (or try to out run me in a PSD or DMax ;) ).

I got some smart mouthed kid at the car wash today... I went to school with him, and everytime I go in there, they always dress the surface of my tires, so I will spin out... I told them I did not need that to spin out, and to stop... one smart a-- kid asked me if I was going to peel out and be cool. I asked him where his car was, so we could maybe race to put up or shut up... well, he shut up, then came back a few minutes later, asking me what all I had done to my motor. . I told him it was stock, even though I have DIESEL INNOVATIONS Stickers on my windows and tailgate... as I was leaving, he made another smart remark, and was standing in smoke's reach... . so I backed up like I was doing something, and got a little closer, dropped it in 3rd, and let off the clutch..... He disappeared for a few seconds, but I am sure he wont be asking anymore sarcastic questions or trying to be rude anymore! Ahh, the joy of 'selective sooting'!! :D

Did it again this Morning, some car on my a$$ so I locked the converter(switch) at 55 in O/D and was on the brake and throttle on the floor at the same time..... they never learn!

Jim

High School Kids... . Love to hate 'em... they think they are always in a hurry, till they get the black cloud of unburned fuel! some take the hint, some don't..... Oh well, some of us are hard-headed, and take to a hands on approach to learning, THE HARD WAY!!!! Others get the hint after a black nasty cloud of potpurri comes out of ye olde stinky pipe...

-Chris-

I hear what you say, once again it happen today driving 70 in a 70, passing a car so I could move over and let a guy pass, but no he had to get on my a$$ so I let it rip and watched the mirror as I did WOW lots of smoke over his RX-7 with the sun roof open and I got the international peace sign from him, didn't realize I was at zero boost at 70 till thought what's with that?... . 20MPH tail wind.

Jim(they will never learn) Man wait till I get a real pump!

Went out last night to look at houses decorated for X-mas, I was doing 25 in a residential area and here comes a ding don in a white honda (yea, I aint even gonna capitalize that stupid name), trying to hurry me along. Well I was definately in the Christmas spirit of giving;) , so when he came up behind me really close, I gave a burst, then he did it again, so I gave um another, then we came to a stop light and he gives my passenger the "stink eye" and revs his vacuum cleaner, so I held my accelerator to the floor and totally drowned out and little peep he was trying to make..... Merry Christmas!

Heehee! some of these stories are great. .

"Smoke a Fat Whale"... Just Kidding, sheesh!

For smoking the innocent - thats cold.

For smoking tailgaters, or boomboxers, I say, may low boost & high flow be with you. :p

By the way, I just had some clown in a rice rocket try to race me on the freeway from about 60 up. Only heard him downshift his little pi$$ed off mosquito motor, when the cummins built boost & rolled away from him (oh - was I supposed to downshift?). Bet I left a little cloud myself. . errrrrt! busted.

Well mine isn't much of a smoke story because I can't throw "that much" smoke with just my AFC wheel adjusted.

Anyhow left work today on my lunch hour and was going about 5 minutes down the road to see my g/f decorating their church for her grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. Well this old geezer (no offense older TDR members;) ) in a chipped/faded gray S10 decided that all he wanted to let me see was his windshield over my tailgate. Well I gave him a short burst, but didn't move over so it more or less went around him.

So I make a turn onto another road and here this joker is behind me at the redlight with just his windshield and gray head in vew. We take off from the redlight and this guy just wouldn't quit. So I was only at maybe 1500RPM in 3rd, and as soon as the next car passed I got over and shifted to 4th and layed on the coals! He got the message! and stayed back a acceptable distance. :D Shortly after that I made my turn into the church and I gave him a nice could to drive through as he went bye! Ain't I nice!:-laf

OK, I will add one.

Couple weeks ago I had a suspected female (not really sure and darn sure would not check) about 500 pounds with really short hair and bad glasses crammed into a corolla riding my tailgate for a mile or so. I let a good cloud go, and she backed off and came right back up so I let a really good cloud go. "It" backed off and stayed back but as I was turning off "it came roaring up and had the window down and arm coming out for a sure single finger salute. Well, I layed on the brake and the smoke pedal fully, the black smoke was THICK and the tires broke loose and went up in a nicely contrasting shade of white. "It" had to stop IN THE CLOUD as I drove off. I was crying laughing as I saw this fat hog fist come out of the cloud shaking one finger at me yet, that was one of the best.

Gotta love them strip-ed clouds. :-laf

How about a bumper sticker that says:

If you can read this, you're in range of the magic cloud machine!

A few weeks ago I was exiting off I-10 and when I looked back all I could see was this fella's windshield and he proceeded to stay right there for another 1/8 mile. I idled down in 5th moved over to the left slightly dropped it into 4th and gave 'er some go pedal. All I saw was this guy's car drive through the middle of a black cloud and then a vigorous hand start waving in front of his face. Needless to say he backed off then jumped into the farthest left hand lane and continued to drive by waving his hand in front of his face. I guess he should have tried to drive around the cloud of smoke like I have seen others do when they decide to ride my rear bumper :D .

That must have been Hell. (Really!) I thought it was rather nasty of my fellow TDRers to smoke him like that. He was riding nicely, sharing the road properly.

Sigh. As others have said, those who deserve smoke should get it as often as needed. Innocents should not.

I've got a story to add,

Early this week I was doing my usual commute to work, which is 300 miles of 2 lane highway. I was patiently waiting to pass a logging truck for several miles. There was this little rice rocket riding my ass the whole time I was waiting. Finally there is an opening so I signal and pull out to pass when I suddenly notice the little Honda is trying to pass me in the shoulder of the road while I'm passing:eek: I was tempted to force him to stay behind me but didn't want to cause a head on collision so I let him by. I was paid back by a spray of rocks as he went by in the shoulder.

Well 70 miles later I pull in for a coffee and guess who I see in the parking lot. . the Honda. So I was in and out quickly and on the road. I was waiting for the moron to come up behind me again. When he finally showed up there was heavy traffic so I promptly slowed down and got to about 1300 rpm in 6th gear and let him have it:D He swerved and slowed down. It was so much fun that I slowed down again and let him have it again. :D I got him about 6 times as he would back off for a second and then glue himself to my tailgate again. He finally got a clearing and passed me giving me the 1 finger salute while I was just:-laf :-laf :-laf

I agree...

fest3er - You are right, it was Hell (both). I saw him ducking his head around, trying to get unsooted air. The smoke was heavy. I decided then that when I have the capability, only the guilty would get it. Even now, I have very limited capability - running the stanadyne a long time ago is still making a difference ... mine doesn't smoke as bad as it did before I ran it.

Driving through Amherst MA on a rainy night, I was taking a left turn down on a two lane road. A seemingly nice guy going in the other direction gives me the old double high beam blink to let me make my turn. . And then decides to gun it while I am half way into my turn... oh man. . I don't know what he was thinking, but he of course wound up behind me since stopping a 7000lbs dodge on a dime in the rain works real well. This joker decides to beep and tailgate me down the rest of this little road.

Bad day for a white car buddy... As he is about 3 inches from my "magical cloud machine" :D going 40mph  , I drop boost to 0 and gun the DD2s for all they are worth. . Man... usually spotting a soot cloud at night in the rain is hard, I blacked out the damn street hehe. All I saw behind me was him turning on his high beams and driving at a safe distance.

Had an accidental one today (honest). I was cruising down I-10 again and came into a section of road where there were several exit/entrance ramps. Traffic was getting busy but not too bad and here came this girl in a little car with her window down buzzing up the entrance ramp. I had cars to my left and could not jump over a lane to let her in so I began to speed up to give her enough room to merge. Well, she decides to speed up also, knowing that hitting the brakes hard was not an option I hit the go juice at low boost and next thing I know she is doing the hand waving thing in front of her face. I felt sorry for her at first, then I just had to chuckle a bit as I took the next exit.
