Hey guys,
I am a little late in posting this but here I go. On monday night I had my grid heaters act a bit funny. Here is what happened. I was about 15-20 into a trip home from volleyball when I stopped at a donut shop for my brother so that he could get some joe,and a sinker. My temp gauge was reading normal, and the truck was running fine. I did my usual shut down of the motor when we were at the drive through, and then upon restart my lights were dimming, and voltage was fluctuating like my grid heaters were in use. I did a listen for the relays, and sure enough they were cycling the gride heaters for the next 2 miles or so,just like it was cold. It was a pretty cold evening, but again I was well into my trip, and had a warm engine. Shortly thereafter I had to stop at another donut shop because the first one didn't have donuts left, and my brother really wanted some. I did the same usual shutdown, and upon re-start I waited for the wait-to-start light to go out,and sure enough it waited for a normal amount of time when it is cold, and it was cycling my grid heaters again for the next few miles. When I arrived home about 20-25 minutes later I shut the truck down, and then put the ignition switch in the run position, and observed the wait-to-start light. It only stayed on for the short amount of time it would if the truck was already warm, and then shut off like normal. What do you guys think this could be?I have had the truck for 3+ years, and have never had any issues with the grid heaters. It currently has 235K miles on it,and everything else works normal. Thanks in advance.
