My truck is getting hard to shift from first gear to reverse when sitting still and when going down the hiway its almost impossible to down shift, upshifting is not bad especialy if you find the right rpm when going to the next gear . The slave cylinder reservior is full and appears to not be leaking. Any suggestions. Also is there a alternatative to get the transmission oil from anyone besides the dealer,i thought someone said the oil was cheaper from the chevy dealer and that its the same oil for the nv4500 in there trucks. thanks Jason

Sounds like the beginning of pilot bearing failure. When mine started to fail it was tough to use first and/or reverse gear from a stop. GM used the NV4500 trans also, so GM does have the "correct" trans oil.

GM oil

:) Hey bud, the oil is la lot cheaper at the chevy dealer, I got it for the 99 nv4500 I am gonna use. Part no. 12346190 at about 15. 00 a year ago. I think you can get it from Standard Transmissions and pay shipping. Tim

Call standard transmission at 800-std-tran for a good price on the Castrol Syntorq. Your clutch hub or pilot bearing is probably going out.
