After fiddling around for quite a while I finally figured out my lack of power after installing my 3k springs was somehow due to the AFC arm getting hung up. I was not making fuel.

I figured it out after installing a home ground #100 plate. That smooth transition was just the trick to get things moving.

The truck hauls fanny. I suspect my 0-60mph time has to be cut in half. Whoa Nelly. At first I had the boost elbow removed and the hose stopped up with a bolt. First drive the boost shot up to 45psi. Whooops.

But if I put my foot into it I get a cloud of grayish smoke, and EGT's climb quickly into the death zone. I think I hit 1600 degrees for half a second before lifting my right foot up.

I need to reduce the smoke and reduce the EGT pronto. And I definitely need to watch my right foot because I'm going to trash my stock transmission. I feel it, I know it, and it's so hard to not floor the truck!

Wondering if I can lower the EGT a tiny bit with Dynomite Stage one injectors...

So my plan is to back off the plate to midway, put on a BHAF, and perhaps replace the muffler with a free flowing muffler. I hope these items will reduce the smoke and most importantly the EGT.

Lordy, this truck is FUN.

Am I headed in the right direction?

Do the transmisssion first. Exhaust doesn't really matter, do it last. Transmission, plate, turbo, injectors... Pip Rook exhaust etc. .

Even with a mild plate only, the auto is overwhelmed. My current set up can roast the four rear tires, it fish tails and slides around pretty easy. Stomp it and it will hit 100 mph on a freeway on ramp. I do this under 1300 degress. The engine won't last long above 1300... . I back off when it hits 1300 and then it will stabilize and sing, 35 psi is plenty on the old girl... .

I started with guages, a #6 plate kit with the boost elbow, Geno's muffler delete and the BHAF till I did the transmission. No need to have the power if you can't get it to the ground.

I've had zero problems with the full DTT trans, its been a solid performer while towing heavy or playing. It rarely sees more than 125 degrees. Shifts quick and smooth under heavy throttle, gets a little harsh under light throttle sometimes. It shifts very firm and quick. My little set up doesn't even phase it. .

1 - Transmission upgrades: bigger cooler and internals
2a - Intake elbow - more air in
2b - 4" exhaust - more air out
2c - bump up the timing, grind afc, GSK, 60lb springs, ETC...
3 - turbo upgrade and injectors (one needs the other)
4 - Twins?

Yep this is the original transmission with a 190k on it. It does not like the new found power, at all.

After transmission I have to find some air. Heck with a squishy transmission replaced with something that has some guts, I think I might be able to turn down the fuel, aka move the plate back, without noticing any power loss.

Thanks for the feedback.

Forgive my ignorance, Does this intake elbow go between the air box/filter and the turbo.

It sounds like the 4 in tube that comes with the truck is causing a restriction.
