Looking at trying to do some statistical analyisis on failure rates first step is mileage. Please be honest and only 24 valves for this post... . More later on types of failures.

368K with one VP-44 and three lift pumps. Can't complain, it's been worked hard. Usually gross between 24 and 30K [Have been known to pull 41K] and most of the miles have been hooked to a 36 ft. gooseneck. Don't think that there is a better truck made. I've replaced the front pads twice and the rear brakes are still original. Haven't done much work on it, just normal service. The dealers don't have a clue about how to diagnose or repair them. Don't think that you can operate any other truck as cheap, you just have to learn how to keep them up yourself.

2001 extcab Longbox 4X4

85,500 Truck is in the shop at this time for Lift Pump, Injector Pump, and A/C condenser Leaking. All under warranty. Still wondering wondering why Dodge doesn't have a fix for the problem.

Over 300,000 here. Engine repairs were:

Cummins Reman VP-44 (which was replaced again w/ a new VP-44 that was "updated")

Head gasket that had an exterior coolant leak before "break-in".

Lift pumps @ every 50,000 miles regardless if they were weak or not.

APPS potentiometer.



2002 3500, H. O. 5. 9CTD, 6sp w/U. S. Gear underdrive, 3. 54 Trac-Lok,

No one has touched a wrench to this truck besides me.

150,000 mi. a year & has been parked for the last 3 years other than using it to take an occasional trip.

98K on my 99 model 2500 4x4. replaced MAP sensor on 80K and lift pump on 85K, besides of that, no problems

97,000 one lift pump new style and 1 set of ball joints at 40,000. Need to check them again. Two sets of tires 5th sets of brakes original rotors except one rear which I didn't catch in time.

a/c compressor replaced 35K, 2001 HO. Both mirrors replaced. Presently 92K and shocks need replacing but will probably do the KORE suspension soon.

Update:

Now I'm at 505,000 Kms ( 310,000 miles) , put on second lift pump today. I was sort of lucky, it failed right in the yard. or I think it did, perhaps it has not worked for some time.
