Upgraded to DTT trans at 161,000.

Front end needs work. Some up/down in king pins, pitman play, etc. Wanders a bit.

New heater blower motor.

New shocks.

New fuel guage sending unit.

Still like the truck... ... runs great!

Sold 2001 cab and chassis last year with 189K, had steering gear replaced when truck was 1 month old, dumping fluid from adj. bolt on top, 2 lift pumps, and sold when NV5600 grinding 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, rear main was leaking, and suspected 53 block failure.

I've got 237,000 on my 98. 5

Whats Been Replaced:
3- Lift Pumps, needs another one now, going gerotor pusher at tank.
2- VP44 injection pumps.
1- 47RE Transmission... . probably needs another soon
1- Alternator
1- Starter
1- Center Driveline Bearing

What Needs Changed Badly NOW!:
Track Bar... learning how to do the death wobble
Front Calipers ..... they rattle like a can fulla rocks
Water Pump..... starting to seep ever so slightly
Fan Clutch... cant really hear it kick in anymore when hot

242,000 time for new VP44

Just turned over 242,000 miles and I'm in need of a new VP44. Ordered one from Chip @ Bluechip the other day, waiting on it to come in. This has been a great truck... 01 Dually Laramie, 5 speed, 4" exhaust, Adrenaline with Pulse, and all the bells & whistles.

Have had to replace the lift pump three times (1 under warranty), VP44 injection pump (under warranty), one clutch, 2 sets of brakes, and 4 sets of tires.

:)

My current 98. 5 is at 210,000 I don't know how many lift pumps and VP44's,

My prior 99 with a 53 block was at 295,000 when I got rid of it, no cracks yet.

I have a friend with a bone stock 98. 5 auto with 300,000 and (I know you won't believe this) original lift pump, original VP44, and original auto. Just uses it as a car and he put all the miles on it.

104,321 as of today. VP44 at 72,000 replaced w/ blue chip X pump. Track bar upgrade done somwhere around 45,000. Origanal was OK. Just wanted to avoid potential problems. 3 lift pumps. Upgraded to a FASS. Time for ball joints. Frt brakes at 48,000 and again at 101,000, rear brakes at 101,000.

Parked in the junkyard at 137,000

1 lift pump at 60,000 (pre-emptive strike)

full dtt at 75,000

inj pump at 85,000

tires and pads

4200 on my new 09 and its all good

06 mega 73K
1 rear complete axle
Both frt wheel bearings
drive shat u joints
entire dash cluster
3 DAMN blend doors
1 ac/heater blower motor
2 trips to adjust shifter cable
1 more to replace worn valve body
3rd (2 months old) set of tires
Rear axle seal
2 frt pinion seals
1 TIM reset (trailer lights tripped it)
2 nd set of frt brakes (first pair f'ing squealed all the time)
(i think that's about all)

170k

2 lift pumps(before FASS), 1 VP44, 3 sets frt brake pads, 2 clutches(factory, then SBC)

NV4500 rebuilt twice

3 sets tires

2 thermostats

Dana 80 rebuilt

1 frt wheel bearing assm

NV241HD transfer case rebuilt

rebuilt rear drive shaft

half dozen u-joints

Is still a great truck. Had it parked for 13 months once, connected the batteries, got in and cranked up. Still had to un-freeze the brakes...

132K on my truck

bought truck 4 yrs ago since then:

new track bar

new front-end

2 sets of tires due to Dodge front-end geometry

1 lift pump... . FASS now-no problems

2 complete high performance transmissions before finally getting a Goerend

1 set of pads for front

brake line for rear brakes rusted through

ECM

new VP-44 still acting up

new dash

starter contacts

new shocks twice

rear end probably needs work-dragging one and spinning other around turns!

before buying truck from BIL he installed a complete new front-end also including new steering box,tie rods, new tb and new tires... . lasted about a year until everything needed replaced again except for steering box. Now that has play again and needs replacement. Truck will pull anything you hook to it,gets great mileage doing it but what a huge money pit and why on earth Dodge decided to put a 1/2 million mile Cummins into a POS truck chassis is beyond me. Including mods of course, which do not count I know,I could have bought a brand new 3/4 ton gasser and paid the mileage penalty 3 times over. Diesels are powerhouses but realistically, you pay the price to own one. I have so much money into that I cannot get rid of it and right when I think I have spent enough to make it reliable again, something else happens! JUNK!!!

I really don't understand how you guys get 5 and 600K out of these trucks... . I have trouble getting to 130K. May be I got a lemon.
