How/when do you do your truck inspection and services?

I'm just curious what people's routine is for their trucks and why. I know some aftermarket parts will add to or reduce the maintenance cycles they do. For example someone with some dynaloc or warn hubs is going to have to inspect them while the guy with a extra fuel or oil filter might have a lot longer time between checks.

My schedule is simple: Oil and filter every 10k, fuel filter at 10k or 20k, diifferential at 50k, and Aisin every 40k.

My truck's been sitting in my driveway in Alaska for the last year going from 80 degree weather to -50 degree weather. I get to see my truck in a few days. I'm trying to think of every possible thing I need to worry about replacing. I figure I'll switch out all the fluids and filters and make sure to re-air the tires and I think I'll be alright. Any other ideas?

If your truck has been parked for a full year you'll need new batteries. Inspect the air filter for critters regardless of miles since service.

I don' park my truck without putting bait out for rodents. .

I change or have the oil changed every 10K miles and will change fuel filters every 30-50K miles... I've installed a 10 micron and a 2 micron filter system and date/mileage each filter with a paint stick upon installation... to date, we've not had a filter plug up and this truck still has its factory fuel filter.

At least once a year, we give the truck a once over and now that's turning to 2 times a year now we are much farther from home... when we leave for AZ in Sept we do the safety inspection and when we leave for WA in April we do it again... its a front to rear inspection, fluid level, fasteners, battery water level, coolant recovery, UJoints, lug nuts, brakes. . . . etc...

And the list goes on... .

I have my tyranny serviced every 25k and the bands adjusted, my oil and fuel filter are done every 5k, the diffs and transfer case I do every 30k. It takes no time to do it and it's cheap ins. Common rail ingines are Very sensitive to dirt and very expensive so why wait. I also run Stanadyne fuel treatment and my truck is quieter and runs much better than it did without it. The Power Shop in Enumclaw wa told me there getting customers all the time that are getting 150k plus out of the original injectors, and they told me do not run at or 2 cycle oil in a common rail engine. So I'm trying to decide if I want to do all the services myself this time around or not. The shop I got a quote from said they have to put a new fuel filter housing in the first time it get changed and said they use a Napa gold fuel filter. I'm wondering if this is a decent one. I know people on this forum are pretty picky about filters and fluids (which is a good thing). Also, how much effort is it to change the diff fluids myself? I never grew up doing any of these things myself so can't say I'm experienced in it, but I've been meaning to become more personally involved in the servicing of my truck.

Napa gold FF's are terrible. Compare one to a stock or Fleet Guard filter and you'll find it has half the pleats.

Alright, not sure if anyone around here has fleetguard. Would switching in a Baldwin be worth it? I found a Baldwin dealer while driving around today. Which one should I get?

I have great success with the Baldwin 5 micron filter, the shop near me said it is a very good one to use. The diffs are very easy to change, the gaskets on my 07 are re-usable . get yourself a cheap suction pump at your auto parts store and simply suck the oil out of the quart and into your diffs. The front one is a little tuffer to get oil into because of the steering. I made a funnel with a hose on it to get to the fill hole, worked great. Hope this helps.
