Had my 16 done actually did a nice job. My service manager agreed it's a half assed fix but atleast it's safe. He also thinks that there is a better fix coming in time. I worked in the ship repair industry for 35 years so I know a little about what a good weld looks like and is also referred to as a bubble gum weld. Looks ugly as hell probably will do the job but its your truck and I wouldn't be happy with that.
 
Service manager at the dealership I use told me don't do it, but to mark mine with a paint pen and check them often for movement. He said the welder spec, for the recall is a 110volt mig with flux core wire. This is probably the number one contributing factor some of these poor welds. Number two is they are getting Jimmy from the car wash bay to do the welding it looks like.

My dealer told me they had to buy a welder just for this recall, as I'm sure most dealers did. What are the odds any of the techs are skilled welders? Pretty slim I would say.
