Thinking About A '68-'70 GM Project Car...

It's kinda like when someone wants something you have but you won't give it to them and then after they beg for ever finally you say , "ok, here you can have it" Then they say, "never mind I don't want it now". You know what I mean, did they ever really want it, or maybe do they still really want it... ... . somebody might really care about jimmy but they are not willing to say it.

Popcorn

Jimmy who? When and where did this take place? Why did he do it? How much did he crack? What did he do with it? What was the name of the song? Who sung it? What year was it recorded? Why do you ask these questions? As I have heard Whitmore:confused: say before inquiring minds want to know?

And what exactly does "cracking" corn mean? Too many unanswered questions about Jimmy and I really think the song goes much deeper than what he was doing in this song.

Are you insinuating it is some type of love song?

To understand the old slave song you first have to understand that the South, especially inland like Georgia have traditionally been a place where people starved to death a lot.

There is a nutritional deficiency called pellagra that is still rather

common, does weird things to the thought processes. You also have to consider the last line of the song, "Cuz the master's gone away", then it all makes sense.

For a lot of slaves corn was the only thing around to eat, and it was usually dried, not fresh, tasted like crap and gave you a weak brain.

"Jimmy" is a corruption of "gimme," so the song essentially means "I would be willing to eat something as vile as cracked corn and I'd still be happy (don't care) if only I weren't a slave (master gone away).

By the questions Doc askes, I think he really is looking for reality. He has been gone from reality way too long to remember where it is.

Oh, and the song... I think somebody was just trying to turn a fast buck, and hopefully get a record deal.

Exactly illflem. However I believe eating cracked corn was actually a euphemism for something much worse they would actually eat in order to be free.
