Wow. 16" rims. How old skule. No ,,,Really, I like em. Im just so sick of all the 20"+ Rims on all the Valley Chrome Queens around here.

Nice off-roaders! Keep polish on hand for those shiners!

I want to get different tires for my winter 16" ers. . have the stock E but not needed now since I don't tow in thw winter...

Used to have 285 75 16 BFG AT TA and might go back to that for the winter use... maybe even the MT...

I have the 19. 5 Ricksons and F tires for towing in the summer...

Agreed!! I live just out of Lodi and see atleast 2 or 3 of these brand new fords or chevys with those 20" wheels and 37" wheels with stock gearing :-laf They always eat my smoke!! :D

Well that's kind of been my downfall I guess, I like doing things others don't do. Yes I will run spacers, mostlikely a 1-1/4" spacer between the axle and the inside dual to get clearance from the frame, and a 2-1/2" spacer between the two dual tires. It may take a little more, a little less I will have to see.

I love the look of the 18" wheels up front, it's killer.

Right now I am putting off working on the truck till later, I want to sell my trailer (36' gooseneck) before I jack up the truck,

Is it just me?? I see a train wreck coming.

Y-K, Have you thought about the load factors on the extended spacing with the stock wheel studs?

I like the product, I just hate the outcome.

13" rubber on 7" wheel? Spacers on a dually hauling a load?

Back to my cave with a shake of my head... ... ... Mac

Come on,..... it isn't that bad. I'm not going to do anything stupid, unsafe or otherwise. I am a tinker'r, and I am also a very good mechanic and fabricator. Don't you read truck magazines? Every month they feature trucks pushing the limits of what many thought was impossible just a issue or two ago. I am not sure if what I what to do is in fact going to work-out the way I intend it to or not. If it does not seem safe, trust me I will change something.

I am putting up my 36' gooseneck trailer for sale, and will wait till it is gone before I start modifing the suspension on the truck. I am already at the limit (height) to pull a gooseneck trailer and do so properly, level.

These shocks and the intire corner of the shop (on the shelves) is full of all the new parts that will be part of this build-up. Trust me, this isn't something I have taken lightly, the cost to date is over $9,000. 00 and I haven't even started. I am sure by the time I am finished, the complete job with all the small (right) charges will exceed $11,000. 00.

Remember those tall tires ..... they don't look so big in the tire rack, until you realize that is a 3-tier tire rack 10' long x 8' high, I completely lost my 2nd tier. No chance that I was going to lift them up to the top tier, they weigh right at 90 lbs each. OH, yell The two (2) rear Aluminum wheels came in and I just got the two (2) rear steel (inner) wheels. I think I'll mount up the rear duals this week and get a chance to see what they look like side by side. I can do that now that my truck adapters have come in for the wheel balancer.

I can mount up to a 48" tire and balance up to a 50" tire. More latter

Lets see, a dually, 37's, 2 winches, buckstop etc etc, maybe its time to allocate some of the budget towards some more HP?

To be honest, This is my last truck mod..... boy that sounds stupid since I have probally told my wife that a hundred times... ... BUT IT REALLY IS.

I kind of wished I would have not gone so nuts on this last series of modifications. This truck has been like one hobby for me, of-coarse we use it some times, but it mainly just sits around waiting for the next mod. I purchased the truck 10-14-96, after waiting for it for 5 months, since then I have put over $50,000. 00 into the truck above the $36,892. 00 I paid for it. I'm a record keeper, so I could easily pull down the screen and show every nickle spent on the truck since we've had it, thats another hobby. I keep track of things, like every tank of fuel, every oil change, when we add a accessory, rotated the tires, and so on. I do that for all the vehicles, it's fun.

But like I said this will be the last mod for the '97 3500. I have started a new project, that will get going for bore after the truck is finished, I am rebuilding a 1933 Ford 2-door sedan. I have had this car for many years, and it's time has come. We will be starting with a new frame, one that I will build, and work up from there. I have already started ordering in some parts, the rear will be a Ford 9" with a triangulated 4-bar set-up, and the front will be a Heiht independent with A-arms and rack and pinion steering. For the engine I have chosen the Ford 4. 6L with an AODE automatic transmission. It will be a full steel body car that I hope to have done in the next year or two.

Oh come on, just imagine how sweet a set of twins would look under the hood of that beast. I remember seeing your truck at that chicken wing get together a year or 2 ago in cincinnati and it sure was pretty. Once its done let me know and we will do another cincy gathering.

I feel for ya, I am done with modding diesel trucks too. all cars for that matter. I'm selling both our cars and getting one nice new vehicle. I'm going to leave it alone, use it for transportation and spend all my money on a new house. We're moving back to the big city and getting something that appreciates for a change!

YK - good luck with this 'last round'. I enjoy your patience and research.

Not to take this off subject, but if you look back on the 50K you spent, what would you rate as the top 5 items or top 10% of goodies? If I rolled up in a 97 6x6 and gave you 5 grand and said get me the coolest stuff you have, what would it be?

By the way, I wish you were my next door neighbor with that shop!

Most of those trucks are for show and are so compromised they are useless if not unsafe on public roads.

Can you run the tires you purchased as duals? Probably - and safely too. If you are willing to spend the time and money to do it correctly. What rim width does the tire mfg recommend for the 13. 5" wide tire?
