Dan, it's the one reason all the other recalls are stacking up on me. I refuse to darken a dealerships door way with this open recall, I could take it in for a tire rotation and it would come home with a welded track bar. No thank you.

I remember your circumstances were different though. I think you had a 4 wheel drive issue just before the rally and wanted it taken care of?

That's understandable.

Yep, I have a couple recalls that I am not having done because I know if they get my truck they will weld it no matter what I say.

Make sure the dealer orders the following parts:
6510750AA Nut-Jam
6510749AA Nut-Jam
68111302AA Adjuster Drag Link

And then replace them after the recall is marked "complete". After the recall is complete it's complete. Now a grey area where my dealer hasn't welded them after replacing them. Apparently new parts are needed after the welding recall for adjustment. I suspect because they can't get the updated part so IMO they let it slide. My preference is in writing on the work order. The adjustment warranty terms covered parts on mine. Welding steering parts on a 1 ton is just bat s#it crazy anyway.

I have been waiting for over a month for them to write off my replacement drag link after taking it in for their required inspection.

68111302AA Adjuster Drag Link is longer available.

You might want to look at the crimps on the passenger end. The end price is inside the tube and I have two distinct crimps in the tube to hold it in place. I wonder if the difference in letter at the end deals with these crimps? The question is raised in at thread about failures of the new parts.

I also have 2 crimps.

Yes you are correct. I had the "service 4wd" message on a trip to AZ. When I got back I put it in 4wd and it stayed there. They replaced the actuator assy on the axle. - said it was under warranty (still within 3 years) and it would have cost ~800. At that time they welded the front nut, but never aligned it. I asked them to straighten the steering wheel (thinking they would replace the welded parts) nope - they used a long pipe wrench to turn the welded nut and assy.

The failing actuator allowed the slip collar to touch the axle shaft so it ground a bunch of metal off. I found that out AFTER they replaced the motor and there were lots of metal dust/chips on the magnet. They claimed that was my fault because I didn't change gear oil at 20K miles and I used the truck for towing. Hmmm how much use does a front axle get when towing on a highway?

Haven't been back to Dick Myers dealership in Harrisonburg VA since then.

I was going to, but knowing how little I can trust them, I will NOT have them put it on. Unfortunately it is probably what they were hoping for.
No easy out for me. So, I'll be replacing it myself.
I did disassemble parts of the axle to flush everything out. Keep my fingers crossed on the bearings. It will be LONG out of drivetrain warrany before I hit 100,000 miles. I just use it for what I need a truck for - about 7-10K miles per year.

I will update and correct myself here as new information showed up in the mail. I received a W49 Recall Notice due to these "parts" the dealer used during my last alignment.

What is the most current part number for 2018's? And is it for all years with this setup? I looked at the recall and it's near impossible to keep up with the discontinued replaced with new P/N listings.

68338342AD seems to be the most recent part number and covers all 2500's and 3500's from 2013-2020.

Having you been able to get RAM/FCA to clear the V06 recall for your truck? I went around and around again yesterday this time on a chat session with them. Agent was saying that the dealer had to do it. I said I took it to a dealer as requested and that I have been reimbursed. And that I was just trying to help them get it off their books! Agent stated they do have the invoice from the dealer stating the new style drag link is installed. I said "Fix it!" What a circle jerk!

I have. They looked at it and signed it off when they did my Aisin software update last week.

I've got a buddy shopping for a 68338342AD, both it and the AB have doubled in price!! Trippled almost on some sites.

Saw that, guess it is to discourage people from doing it themselves. Have talked twice in the last two weeks to my service manager about clearing my recall. FCA says dealer has to do it, service manager says he can not and is talking with the recall department about getting it cleared. What a circle jerk.

Not sure if this helps you, but, I had to sign the service paper beside where it said recall. No welding done.
I checked later at the FCA recall site and it was cleared. SOOoooOoooOo, your service manager is full of it and he CAN clear it.
