OIL LEAK on my new truck! It can't be!

Just venting more than anything, I noticed a drop of oil on driveway and thought hmmm cant be leaking its almost new with barely 10k miles. I looked under the engine area and sure enough looks to be leaking from front main seal. Kinda bummed, I thought Cummins was better than that.( I still love it} Oh well looks like an inconvenient trip to the dealer is in the future!

I may be a member as well. Within the last few weeks have noticed a slight drip in the driveway. Not leaking much at all but nonetheless it is leaking oil and leaving spots on the driveway. I park in the same one or two spots at work and have not seen any drips there. After crawling underneath and checking hard to see much of anything up in there from below and dang near impossible to see anything from above but definitely looks to be coming from front of engine.

clean it off...see if it comes back...could be residual from the manufacturing process of the engine.

I also had an oil leak from inception and upon further investigation, it was really transmission fluid. I cleaned the underside of the truck and looked everyday for a week. Finally, on the driver's side transmission about half-way back I found a threaded port with fresh transmission fluid. I found an appropriately sized bolt and added a copper washer - - no more leak. Happy ! No more residual fluid on the underside and much cleaner.

Mine has a dribble as well at the front seal. Also evidence at the rear as well.

My 2013 doesn't leak a drop, neither does my Harley. A lot of the so called leaks on older Harleys was due to the automatic chain oilers that did a terrific job of marking the bikes territory. Now my old '98 12V was a different story, it not only marked it territory quite well it also kept the weeds at bay.

i have a 2016 Ram 3500 6.7 when it hit 35,000 mile it stated leaking oil took it to a local dealer they replaced the crank seal and timing cover 2 times at one dealership , took it to another dealer they replaced the timing cover and seal it started leaking again the next day tried to take it back they wanted nothing to do with it , had to take it to another dealer they replaced the timing cover and crank seal again , they also replaced the oil cooler the oil filter adapter plate and all the gaskets , the truck is still setting at the dealership fro over 2 weeks with engineers from Ram trying to find out where this oil is leaking from, any ideas ???????

Obviously not from the crank seal and timing cover. I hope they have cleaned it off and added dye to the oil to determine the source. It should not be that difficult for them to find if they approach it logically.

They re sealed my timing cover to pan as it had a leak. They also replaced both the trans rear and transfer case front seals. He said it was probably the trans but he replaced both since he was in there, great service!

Crap effort by the worker of engineer that "thunk" of something new. Cheap will be the downfall of the American dream.

Probably stored oil from the last fixes and oil filter changes..... There's all sorts of cavities for that oil to stay... unless you crawl under the truck and power wash it all out it may look like something is leaking

My 2013 had minor seepage from the front crankshaft seal for the first 20,000 miles or so but has not leaked at all since.

My rear crank main was leaking just prior too the 3/36 expiring. Took it in, dealer had it for almost two weeks. Didn't mind, just wanted it fixed. Been all good since.

My 2015 doesnt leak a drop (knock on wood). The 01 has a little incontinence from old age

Would have been covered under the 5/100 power train warranty.
