I believe it's a diablo power puck, and it is a timing box, adjust the fuel delivery timing to increase the horse power + or- 50 - 60 hp

why are you pissed, it's a $600 unit that you probably got for free, and I think it's just a plug in, so you can remove at your will, and the truck will really be a pig then

just my opinion

Similar to my EZ.....

I believe the Power puck can be reprogrammed also, at least the newer versions.

Don't complain, my truck was terrible till I upgraded a few things. :D :D

If there was only one modification I could do a fueling/timing box would be it.

If it really bothers you yank it off, but I have a strange feeling you'll be putting it back on.

Power Puck is made by Diablosport. It is a timing box like the EZ and VA. It is suppose to give you about 62 horsepower and 160 torque (factory settings). Its peak hp is around 1900 rpms and it is intended to help down low for towing. The cool thing is it can be opened up and connected to your serial port on your PC. There is software you download from Diablos website to make adjustments. I have not tried this but it is suppose to work according numerous websites. As far as connections go it is like the VA. It connects between the Injector Pump connector. Unlike the VA and EZ it carries a lifetime warranty and uses heavy duty construction not plastic. www.diablosport.com I could tell significate power increase and maybe a slight imiprovement in mpg. :D

Diesel Freak runs one on his ETH, likes it quite well. I tried it on my ETH and liked it as well. Doesn't add gobs of power but it was smooth and smoke wasn't bad with my DD2s. I am running the Bullydog CPC which is a good box but if I had my pick, I think the Puck works a little better on my truck.

I love my Puck. I dyno'd with it and 275's on my ETH at 294 HP. it is real strong from 1600 to 2500 RPM... . it wasted my clutch (actually my heavy foot did). Keep it!

No the truck did not come with the powerpuck... . but found out later it had one in the past... I was upset because he did not tell me what he had installed or removed throughout his time with the truck... Was worrying me that something was wrong with the truck and that is why he was getting rid of it... And i was unable to find anything wrong... . I had never heard of the Puck so it worried me..... Now that ya'll have heard of it and it sounds like it works... makes me feel better... Thanks to the extended family again... .

puck vs comp

i'm reading and reading and reading. how does the power puck compare to the edge products? can they be used together, since they seem to tie in in different places? the puck apparently doesn't have a boost controller--would the puck and a boost controller/fooler be a better setup than a comp without the pump wire hooked up? since the puck plugs in at the injection pump, do you have to break any "void seals"? if there is a site where i can get the info i'm seeking, let me know, and i'll go read some more.

TIA... ...

redneckdr,

In my case I had to remove a Void Sticker on the pump. I did save the sticker and it was not damaged a lot. I have heard some people say their 2001 did not have the Void stick on the Pump connector. I wonder if Dodge keeps the VINs of which trucks they have put the Void sticker and do they know that a Dodge mechanic didn't remove it? If you look at www.diablosport.com it will show you installation and give you some information. www.pdqwarehouse.com is another site. The problem I had was the information conflicted as far as power gains go. The lowest claims I saw were 50 hp and 160 torque with the highest being 62 and 190. I emailed diablosport tecnical support and they said it was 62 and 160 for my ETH. Like you mentioned I did add a PS Boost Module. I am extremely happy with my setup for now! I can always use more power but without totally destroying mpg is the tough part. So far so good!:D

P. S.

One of the sights I found had

a dyno graph of the improement. Can't

remember which:confused:

The Puck, EZ, and VA can not be used with anyother box that plugs into the CAN. The Edge Comp and EZ boxes plug into the datalink connector which is part of the CAN. If you do this the truck might start, and if it does once you put a load on it it will either die or not run worth a crap and go into limp home mode and set a hard trouble code that only the dealer can clear.

Diesel Freak

So if any of the boxes are used seperately you are ok, but do not use them together, correct?

Are all of these (Puck, EZ, VA) pretty much the same... one better or more reliable than the other? Thanks for everyones help!!!

yes. The Edge EZ, VA, Power Puck or any other rebadged CPC box along with the Edge Comp can not be used together.

with regards to fueling they are all the same

boxes

it still sounds like the comp, even without the pump wire hooked up would be the best upgrade for the money. with different levels of fueling, and, if i understand correctly, boost adjustment also, with some additional mod (J-hook, turnbuckle, spring) to the wastegate??????? then, later when the transmission has been upgraded, add the pump wire?? i'm still trying to understand all this. the puck is adjustable, but don't you have to open it and hook it up to a computer? the comp can be adjusted with a switch in the cab, can't it?

I believe the Comp is adjustable from the cab. I would do like you said and leave the pump wire off until not concerned about warranty. The Comp is more expensive but sounds like it is worth it for the features. Someone who has one can answer this better, but I thought if the pump wire is not connected that the settings from the cab make no difference. It would be like having an EZ only. Now if I was deciding between Puck, EZ, and VA there is no doubt the Puck would be the one. I got my Puck by trading with someone my Blue Box, but again the Comp sounds like the most versatile way to go for the money if you want all the power you can get. If you haven't put in gauges yet, the FMS from Blue box is another one I would consider. Just my opinion.

comp, etc.

hey, dsmith... .

hello from georgia. how ya likin' the new injectors? done the exhaust upgrade, yet? i think the comp adjustments from the cab change the timing to different settings, and may change boost, without the pump wire hooked up? hopefully someone with better knowledge than i will anser some of these questions.

Redneckdr,

Love the DD2s!!!!!:D Not only the power but driving sensible my mileage has not been hurt. I can't wait to feel up on this tank since I just hit a half tank and have 330 miles on it. Normally 300 miles is my benchmark. I am waiting on some money to come in before the exhaust gets replaced. I like your setup and plan to do the work myself like you on whatever I go with. EGTs are not a problem so far with Puck, PS Boost, DD2's and BHAF hence no hurry in the exhaust area. I will do it as much for looks and sound as anything. My current project is to put my fuel gauge in, but not exactly sure how. I have the tapped Banjo fitting but don't know what to do with it. I am dealing with a huge learning for me when it comes to this kind of work. I do better with a rake and shovel than a wrench. But hey, I am learning and having fun. :)

Have a good one,

Dean

BOMBitis

phil:

it's too late. the bug has got me, and i think it's incurable. i've already done several things--mostly cosmetic and lighting. i've got the aguge pod. when i can save for the westach's, then next will probably a comp, or perhaps the "mad ecm" if marco has it by then, depending on the price. then DTT, then, then, then???... ... ... ... . hello, my name is herb. i am a bombaholic. i haven't thought about BOMBing for a whole minute... ..... wait a minute did you hear the exhaust on that CTD that just went by? and what about the smoke? must be stage III's at least!! oh well, I CAN QUIT ANY TIME I WANT TO!! :D :D :D

Puck Power

I have had my Puck for about 6 months now and really lilke it. I did see a 1 MPG increase in casual driving.

I dynoed it at Schied's Deisel Extravaganze without any mods except the exhaust. It put 202hp & 505 ft/ lbs on the ground through th automatic trans. The operator, I think it was Bill, said an all stock truck would put out 160/400.

I am happy that the Puck at least gives me back what I was losing in the transmission. Since then I have added the ADD and bigger injectors. No new dyno numbers but I know it makes more now.

BTW, with no puck I couldn't get the rear end to break contact, with the Puck it was no problem. Of course that was then ...
