POD's and 3200 rpm gov spring installed. Truck runs great. reset all screws to what they were before spring change and rpm would run up in gear to 3600 rpm. I adjusted it back down to 3300 rpm max. What is the best setting for the high idel screw? do not have the 60lb valve springs yet.

In my opinion you are at the max RPM now. Usually if you plan to run at or above your curent setting you'd be wanting to install the heavier springs to make sure you don't have any valve float. It is not a problem too often but when it happens it's not usually a nice thing.

Also, inquire about the later model valve stem seals... I believe there are updated ones you can put in while your at it... . they basically have "boss" at the bottom of the retainer and there is no way for them to "crawl" up the valve stem which can also happen at the higher RPM's.

The one place I'm sure can help you with that is PDR. To be fair, keep in mind I was associated with them for some time till health took me out of the sport/role with PDR.

I just did a dyno run at Suncoast Converters with POD's and "3200 rpm" gov spring on top of what I had before. You can see the results in my Gallery.

A comment was made at the dyno party that the pump "really puts out at the higher rpm". That's sort of what I'd suspect after installing a PDR rebuilt pump and supplying the spring.

But I wonder if this thing is running up to a higher rpm than I really want (no 60# valve springs, do have the latest valve stem seals thanks to a recent head gasket replacement). I might crank it back, but I think I'll just leave it and watch the tach.

Thought you (and the pastor) would like to see the run results.

Smoke Level

Did the 3200 increase your smoke level from the truck? I just received the spring from PDR but was wondering about the smoke. Thank you.

No change in Smoke from the spring did have some increase in smoke with the pod's whent from 26 psi to 30 psi with the pod's and runs smoother in my opinion. after sping install still around 30 psi but have not had a chance or enough open road to open her up. The boodst says on longer up to the 3200 rpm mark and by then the truck is really moving along. not enough load to get ma boost in 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

DBF, just looked t you runs and the numbers look really good. what kind of boost are you running? also what kind of EGT temps where you at? Wish I could have made it to suncoast this year. Was installing new front spings on the truck they look great, will post pictures soon. I am going to try to get some guys together for an event or just get together in north or central florida.

DBF, I sure wish I could have made it to Sun Coast this year to meet up with you. I was very sick and couldn't make it. :( I may have to run down to PC one day just for the drive. :)

Boost is 28/29#. EGTs went to 1300* during the (brief) run and were headed higher; maybe that's an excuse for a bigger turbo & exhaust. :-laf

I did them at the same time, so I can't tell. But I suspect the spring won't affect smoke and the PODs surely do.

Let us know your results.
