Yes I know that I own a new CTD that cost $30k.

But I can't get past the fact that I would have to fork over $48 for the block heater cord at my local dealer when they get the expected delivery of TWO late today. (So I am supposed to feel grateful that I am one of the lucky two that can even buy one. ) This is nuts. This is not a high tech part, it is basically an extension cord with a different female end. I guess my attitude took a hit a few weeks ago when their parts dept clipped me $38 for my first (and the last with them) oil filter.

I understand overhead. I own my business and have one employee. But I can look a customer in the eye when they ask about my fees. I guess the dealership has no on-site responsibility for parts prices- just a take it or leave it attitude. It really bothers me when I feel like I'm being gouged.

BTW, I have no local Cummins facility, no GOOD local auto parts stores.

I don't see one on Geno's site (maybe I'm becoming blind with age, or is it RAGE)

The Mopar site has one for mid-thirties $$, but with shipping it is right back up there.

Sorry for the rant. Maybe it will be therapeutic.

I understand your frustration. However, I went and bought the dealer cord anyway.

It does have all the factory clips on it. So once I got over the fact that I paid too much for the cord, all is well. I look at it this way. At least I didn't have to pay anybody to install the block heater or do it myself.

Life is to short to sweat the small stuff.

Another DC Bullcrap cost cutting measure, If the truck is sold north of the Mason-Dixon line it should come stock with the cord, period. DC is a garabage company and when they lose or ditch Cummins they will be a non-factor in the heavy duty pickup market. I sure hope another, more reputable, company picks up Cummins before I want a new truck.

Daniel-

Does your heater have 2 pins and collar that threads onto the end of the heater? If it is, it is a Zero Start heater. Can get the cord at most any big truck dealer. I got one from my local Mack dealer for $9. Longer than stock.

Done. The new OEM heater cord will be here by USPS by the week's end for... ... ... ... ... ... . $29. including shipping.

End of thread.
