Off Roading Need advice on pressure for BFG 285X17's range D

Competition Durmax vs dodge

All I know is switching to JP8 on our helo's was bad for performance. It is heavier than JP4, burns alot less efficient leaving ALLOT of black soot on the airframe and performance of the engine went down.

Add a lube

:-{} You could use some 2 cycle motor oil its ash less ,brand mox nix any one will do. A amount to use same as stated on most additive containers. Ron Bissett in Metro Louisville KY :-{}

Yep you are correct, JP-5 will have more heat energy content(E-4 test question) but will smoke more and be more stable (flash temp)

Thanks for the info Guys.

So Im going to blend some JP in with my Bio and add a little 2-smoke oil for the fun of it.

should be good for -$100 in my pocket.

5% bio diesel is suppose to be the best mix for power, you'll like the way it quiet's the motor down.

Jim I am confused how any amount of Bio mixed with regular #2 can increase HP? I know that B100 generates less HP than #2. Maybe at a small quantity there is a gain to be found running a small amount of Bio?

I dunno? We run a special Offroad, High sulphur B-100 in the pulling truck, with lubricity and cetane additives. looks like rusty water, but it burns real good.

hmmmm possibly!!!

funny thing, in the motorcycle world, Oxygenated fuels like VP U4 are like Crack for a four stroke... . so now everyone runs it. No real need to check specific gravity unless someone really starts pulling on the straights... . but that usually promotes a motor teardown first.

They started checking the top 3 after every feature at my home track---amazing the amount of "old fuel" guys were giving away, or using to burn brush, once that rule took effect. :-laf

I'll add to the dispute a little. My father buys red, offroad fuel once a year 5000 gallons at a time for the farm equipment. It is still high sulfer, ruby red fuel. Any of our diesels, whether it is my 93, the 2000 p-joke, or an old NA tractor, they run better on the offroad red then any fuel that we get for on road purposes at the truckstops. Now, hp numbers-dunno, seat of the pants is a noticable increase in performance. My butt dyno does not know what 10 hp feels like. ;)

Just my $. 02. I know if/when I pull a diesel it will run on the fuel my father gets, instead of the stuff at the truckstop.

So is it time for some specific gravity testing at the "#2 Only" competitions? :-{}

That was my point the entire time.

IF your not running #2 your out of the competition !!

Darn Sled trucks running crack fuel anyhow.

If it is in fact what I know as "Ruby Red" it's Cenex CF Fieldmaster which is the off-road version of their Cenex CF Roadmaster high cetane on-road fuel.

Great stuff for sure, the best fuel I've found here in the upper midwest. :cool:

but does it really matter if it is a mix of C12 to C18 hydrocarbons, or a specific carbon chain? The only time s/g really comes up is if too much alcohol is used or too much nitromethane, or nitropropane... in the gasser world. However Propolene Oxide is cool stuff!!

Be very causes around Propylene Oxide , there is a reason it is a forbidden substance in NHRA drag racing , and because of DHRA and NHRDA’s association with then banned there also.

IT IS A CARCINOGENIC ,AND IS EASILY ABSORBED IN TO YOUR SKIN !!!!!

In the NHRA competition eliminator and Pro Stock , its all been tried . and the guys there are masters at masking agents. But NHRA has fixed the problem , make it so bad if you get caught , and use a Dielectric Meter to screen the fuel every pass. I have run some of the so-called rocket fuels when they were legal. Like VP C-44 we now are required to run VP C-25 as a spec fuel. The agents in these fuels were not there to make big power , but to give a small edge , as in 20 hp in a 1300 hp Pro Stock motor was the difference in making the fields in the top half or going home early. I have heard that the fuel that was being run a few years back was so sophisticated the it cost $ 500 a gallon . this was a cheep price to pay when a million dollar motor program was not working . I was their in a good friends pro stock pits, just before the final round of Pro Stock at Pomona this year , and watched as NHRA Tech Eric Lowe , a diesel guy to the core came and fueled and sealed this racers fuel cell. The answer is to police the fuel or Fuel them.

has anyone thought about aspirating some Hydrogen Peroxide followed by a little Hydrazine? :D

Would make the Water/Methanol injection look like kids stuff!!

Propolene Oxide is not that bad... . I've worked with nastier stuff than that!!!

When I submitted our first set of rules, NHRA tech had a list of things that were HIGHLY recommended for our rulebook and Propolene Oxide was on that list. Not sure how it would work in a diesel engine, but like DF said, I've heard it's nice in the SI engines.
