Good morning John! One was the size of the unit. It fit very nicely on top the steering column without blocking very much on the dash and the second reason is just stupidity. Lack of patience really. I wanted something installed by this weekend as I am towing to go camping. I'll be going on vacation in a couple of weeks with the TT in tow. The scangauge as far as I have played with it seems very limited as to what it will do. I am well aware this is a 7600 pound 3/4 ton pick-up truck and could care less about the Scangauge's fuel economy features. The mileage will be what it will be and is dependent on my right foot. Anyhow, in hindsight it would have been nice to see these two side by side. Thank you for your insight. I really do appreciate it and that of all who commented.

The ECM doesn't report fuel usage very well on the 03-07's so either one will have errors.

Hopefully you like it, if not sell it and get the UG :) It really is that much better... I am actually surprised SG is still priced the way they are with the UG on the market.

I thought I would post a follow-up since towing with the Scangauge. Of course it did nothing for the pick-up or the tow but the piece of mind is priceless. Two things come to mind. Number one was the Intake Air Temperature. The ambient temperature was mid 80's during my tow and the IAT hung right around 100 to 120F. I have no idea if that is normal or not. I'd like to know how my fresh air intake should be effecting this temperature. The second and more important point is the engine coolant temperature. The factory gauge has been showing 200F and a tick above (Needle between the zero's or on top of the second zero) while towing in summer temperatures. Same thing showed on this tow except the Scan gauge showed a maximum temperature of 206F on a longer grade. For the most part the engine coolant temp hung between 192 and 198F even though the factory gauge would show 200 or a little above. I'm glad I bought the Scan gauge.

I recently purchased a UG. Has anyone with an 04.5 using a UG been able to get a rail pressure reading to work?
