Thanks Bushy, Thanks Philip.

I simply had a most wonderful time. The weather was PERFECT and my two rigs also ran perfect, there and back. The road trip was half the fun!

A big THANK-YOU to Jeremy and his wife for being hosts. They are a fun couple (for Hoosiers). My wife also felt welcome.

What fun it was to look over the rigs and assist with some of the tweaks. The look on Cade's face was priceless. :-laf Some of the guys are at the stage I was a few years ago and it's simply a pleasure to inform them that the first gens are no longer limited to 300 hp. ;)

Philip. Thanks for letting me drive the W350... again. :D I'll have your pump mods ready in no time when you send me the VE. Pleezz take a pic of them black marks out in front of Jeremy's driveway. I dun forgot.

Sure was great to meet the "new" guys. Lets do it again Oo.

I dun plastered the front of my "other" rig with soot en route home :-laf Needless to say the wife probably won't be attending the next show.

thanks phill and jeremy. i had a great time, met alot of great people, i know i wasn't very talketive but i learned alot by just wachting. i know one thing i need gauges!!!! , hope to see all you guys around.

Special thanks to everyone that came for a great fun filled and informative weekend. Jeremy and Michelle thanks a bunch for letting us camp sure did help on the expenses. Thank you Greenleaf for an awsome run through on the VE, I feel alot beter about taring into it now.

Everyone that helped get some more power out of the old girl I thank you. The ride home was pretty enjoyable. I averaged some where in the ballpark of 17 mpg even with a couble test drives and using my newfound smoke to burry a few ricers :-laf . Before this weekend I didn't think it was possible to burry the pyro so fast with stock injectors :-laf A new turbo will be in the imediate future :)

The clutch sure didnt like the new power,After my 260 mile hike home it seems it will no longer completely disengage, some grinding is in order to get it into gear, at least i can start it in gear and shift with out it :( and it slips with anything over 20 pounds of boost :( Ohh well the new centerforce should be here today. Hopefully some day I'll be able to give some one a ride Like the one I got in Greeleafs truck, man that was fun :D Bill some time i'll have to get a ride in your truck, everbody else came back with a smile so it must be fun.

Thanks again to everyone, I sure had a good time and learned tons :D

Cade

Well first off my trip there started off with a call from Daniel. Seems his fan hub locked up on him, sending his fan into his radiator. He's on the side of the road between Indy and TH. I so, ok you need a radiator, fan/hub assembly, belt and antifreeze? No problem. Pulled the fan/hub off my donors engine, loaded up everything and on my way. He already had the old parts off when I got there. Didn't take him but 10 mins or so to install the new radiator, belt and fan/hub assembly. As we pulled off the shoulder up a hill, I thought his headlights quit :-laf , but that his truck disappearing from the smoke I gave him after 3rd gear :D .

Huge thanks to Philip, Jeremy and Michelle for putting this on. I had a great time, better than last year. Sorry for the 6am wakeup call :-laf . I tried to slow idle it up to the camping area, but sometimes the throttle sticks after I stop near tents, just pegs that 4K rpm tach a few times hmm, gotta get that one figured out ;).

Last year I think I took about 100 pics, I think because I wasn't getting my hands dirty. This year all I took was the group pic. I figured since I couldn't bring anything to contribute, I'd give my labor. Sorry Rodney for not getting to your pump. Hopefully we got Michael and Cade's pumps tuned  . Cade do you have your list made out of items you need? I was gonna search the part numbers for you and PM them to you. You definately need the throttle rod kit, valve cover gaskets, htt stage 4 upgrade etc etc. . Thanks to Daniel for adjusting my valves, hmm 337hp and 3800rpm with intake valves at . 15 and exhaust at . 23 . He set them to . 09, . 20.

Big, big thanks to Greenleaf for putting on the VE 101 lesson. Went all the way through a gov spring, afc lever grind on a pump, plus other secrets/tips. Not just pics, but actually had a VE on hand to take apart. I've read and read on the gov spring install so I have a good idea, but that was the icing on the cake, thanks so much Scott.

Not to say that we missed Jake or Carl this year, but we were blessed to have Michael Miller come from Iowa. His background in diesel mechanics, truck pulling, everything Dana, etc, was a great addition. I enjoyed the time we got to talk. Nah I wasn't really gonna ring your neck for turning around my goat head on the hood. Now if Daniel did, that would be another story ;) . I'm surprised my truck survived this years cookout. I can't remember how many rides I gave out :( :-laf . I hope you guys enjoyed them. I was surprised my clutch didn't slip. Must be that wastegated intercooler  dumping half the charged air into the atmosphere LOL.

Once again thanks to everyone, it was an honor to be around some of the best people not to 1st gen experts. Oh and Chris, thanks for the beer.

Bill you should have had your CB in the truck. When we came out on US24 that tanker driver asked if that was all the smoke you little guy's could put out. Thats why Chris and Michael stomped then agin. Michael told the driver the gray one was the one that could put it out good.

I told the driver. There you go incouraging them. I am at the back of the pack. :-laf

I better thank the lady's for thier much needed help. It was appreciated Heather, Michelle, and my wife Mary.

I'll have your pump mods ready in no time when you send me the VE.

There you go dreaming agin Scott. Keep those little stickey fingers away from that virgin pump. :-laf :-laf

LOL, the CB will be in there next year. Speaking of CB :-laf , once again this year we sat around the camp fire and told our favorite CB Parker stories LOL.

I could remember the route to get there from last year, but wasn't sure of the correct driveway during the night, but once I saw all the burnout marks to the left and right of the driveway:-laf , I knew I found the right place.

I didn't feel like blowing out all that liquid gold on the way home, so I kept it tame. Although once on us31 I think I gave Chris a little smoke ;).

I really don't know if you guys were really blessed by my presence at the 1st gen day, but I did have a good time. I think we were blessed that Daniel took Mr Murphy back home with him. :-laf Maybe next year Bill, you and I can set up our tents in the day light. At least I had an excuse, you were just thinkin about a girl! By the way how did that turn out?? ;) Inquiring minds want to know. I also see you liked the comment about your waste gated intercooler. :-laf

I am in hopes of having something a little more aggressive for next year to play with. I always have to remember to keep the 93 mellow so it won't meltdown pulling the trailer. And no, it does not need twins and 500 hp to pull the trailer. Hopefully fuel prices go down enough I can drag the trailer out with my 90 on the back, and hop the old girl up a little.

I did not realize Cade, that you came from so far away, just a few more miles then I, or was your trip 260 from home to Peru and back? Get that new clutch, and we'll see you next year. :)

Michael

Worked out good Michael, got home, fueled up. Averaged 19. 7 to and from Peru, not bad IMO. Then drove another 60 miles to Vincennes..... ;)

Cade you didn't order a Luk centerforce did ya?? Oh no, Daniel can attest to this, its weaker than the stock clutch, smaller in diameter as well, 12 1/4" vs. stock 13". Shouldn't go cheap on this purchase...

No it is a centerforce dual friction not a luk centermetalic or what ever. I am pretty sure the stock clutch is a 12 1/4 and the HO versions are 13 inch. The centerforce is rated at 800 ft lbs. Not as high as I wanted but I got the clutch never used in the box for $400. Talked to a few people that have them they say they like them and two are over 800 ft lbs and say they hold up well. I hope it works out

This is where you gotta get that gasser and 2nd gen truck mentality out of your head. Our stock clutch is 13". Our engines are torque monsters. At low Hp, we make more torque than a compareable hp 2nd gen. You'll blow that 800ftlb away in SHORT time, turbo upgrade, POD's and you'll be there. Oh and thats at the ground too:D.

Sounds like you guys had a ball, I sat on my a** all weekend :-laf Maybe next year wifey will let me come out. I checked it on mapquest, 635 miles one way, it says 10 hrs 22 mins, but that figures out to 61 mph ;) Well we'll see.

You should have came Pete. You would have had fun. Greenleaf/Scott gave a good class on VE pumps. Plus most of us kept our hands pretty clean. The food was good.

All in all I think everyone had a fun time. Stay tuned for next year. :-laf

once again thanks phil and jeremy and your wives i had a great time. hey phil i went to tollins on monday and talked to a guy( the wrong guy i guess) about the seal kit and he had no clue what i was talking about. i think he was more interested in his toy trains. i thought that was were you said to go, hell i slept since then, i was taking in so much info i might have confused myself, i will be ordering some gauges this week hopefully i can get them installed soon. i did order the throttle linkage and it will be here thursday, and i ordered a service manual. as soon as i get the gauges on, i hope to get the ve pump up to date, so i can blow some good ole smoke!!!. chat at you all later.

I'll pay more attention next year. I tried to have a TDR picnic at my house on saturday but it flopped. I think my pump is next for serious attention, after injectors, i'm bummed I missed the schoolin'. :{ Oh well

Sure does sound like it was a great time!. . too bad I`m alll the way on the east coast, about as far as it gets where the US eends and the Atlantic begins... oh well, this post kinda makes up for it!!

Rodney he wouldn't know about the bushing you need for the pump. But he can sell you the gages you need and a A pillar pod. He was very close to the online prices I found when I was getting gages for my truck.

The A pillar pod will come in black. I have some gray vinyal dye left over from doing my trucks A pillar mount. Get with me and I'll shoot yours when you get it. I just did the one for Jeremy's new truck. :-laf.

BIG thanks to Bill and his assistance. The radiator survived another 1000mi so far so good. Glad to see you liked the valve adjustment- and . 015/ . 023 was a conservative estimate for what the valves were. Some of those intakes were well into the high teens.

rpowell- You did order a 40psi or better boost gauge, didnt you? If not, you'll be sorry.

Philip- Have you gotten ahold of the guy we were talking about for axle swapping? I have a phone number I can email you as soon as I find it.

GL- any way you can make the next class in the PM?:-laf  I figure at the rate we're going, next year, we'll get there at about 2pm. Think I'll just set a goal of noon Fri to leave MO.

Cade- was that you that emailed me about my EDMs last week? If you still want them, email me.

Thanks to all who showed up; it was nice to see an all-1stGen get together, nothing against the newer trucks, though.

Daniel
