So pictures not the best but ok but it was like zero degrees here nice write up on what truck was short and to the point 1999 2500 171k 275 rv injectors edge. About 100 hp more than stock heavy built transmission DTT BD exhaust brake to slow it all down spare tires and rims etc forgot to say 4 w drive or rasp fuel system so not a stock truck etc. Craigslist next door Facebook I think That’s all About 4 days go by no calls nothing I included a price also . My wife and I were wondering why no interest . Then at 11:30 pm at night I get a text. Guy 40 miles away wants truck has cash wants to give me a bit less than asking. I don’t respond that night to late should be in bed. Next am 6:30 the guy is texting me again to see if I have sold the truck . I respond no and tell him a new number between my high and his low . He responds with a bit more and I respond with yes it’s your truck for that money. All a text. Never ask one question about it except if it was four wheel drive. Now this guy is old enough for Medicare. So now he wants me to take it to him. Deliver it . Does not want to come into the city 300000 really. Country person I understand. So we set up to meet at 3:00pm at a grocery store gas station about 3 miles from where he lives He’s there right on time -5 outside. He goes for short test drive I wait in his truck. He shows me a roll of $100 bills. My wife had legal bill of sales from off the computer. She counts the money and now he would like us to take it to his house. Which we do. Moneys all there sign title and bill of sale chat a bit all in wife’s suv Very rural area lots of old STUFF around. Truck will now live outside. I answered his questions which were very simple. Does it have heated mirrors When was oil changed last nothing past that never opened the hood. He liked the truck and wants it. I tell him it has a tank of winter fuel in it (antigel) and a head bolt plug tie wrapped to the front tow hook. Very nice fellow polite and friendly. I offered him that if he had any questions down the road to call me or text me and I would talk to him. He wished us a happy holiday and we headed home. Sold truck first buyer cash $100 bills never opened the hood. Delivered truck all with text no phone calls Your thoughts please.

I had a 98 12 valve 4x4 NV4500 truck. Put it on craigslist and it sold for asking within 14 hours. Put it on Friday night, Saturday morning a guy came with cash in hand.

In Alaska 80 f is pretty warm we start wearing shorts again out side at about 40-45 f we can tell a tourist because he has a coat on and it’s 50 f. So I took a winter coat figuring I would be outside a bit . He had a heavy shirt on . It was a speedy sale for sure

I have been to Alaska a few times, in the summer. The Fairbanks area can get pretty warm in the summer, and Anchorage was perfect in July. Except for the mosquitos that could carry small dogs off.

Well another thing he didn’t ask me about how the exhaust brake works or nothing. There’s two switches. One on the left side of the steering post that makes the torque converter lock up When it’s off the truck shifts normal. On it makes abruped 89 per cent torque converter shift third tear to fourth and the switch on the right engages the exhaust brake. Things to know but he didn’t seemed concerned.

Sounds good. Glad it found a new home.

You can always just text him how it works, this way he knows about it.:)

My thoughts are you did what you felt comfortable with and you got a hand full of cash in the amount you wanted and you are now most likely sad it's gone but that's life!!!

Maybe it's just me but buying a car from Carvana is just odd at best. The vending machine concept of no personal inspection and it's used does not compute.
At least he showed up, but not opening the hood? I dunno, probably figured if it's running in that cold weather and no fluids dripping on the ground it was good to go.

I do hope you brought a counterfeit pen to test the bills??

With my 2001.5 I had my DTT smart controller on an old style head light switch on the floor by my left foot. A manual lock to lock shift for 2nd to 3rd with the controller on was brutal!!! The floor switch killed power to the smart controller and the Banks exhaust brake. A secondary switch to the left of the steering column killed the Banks EB only.

No pen but I did stop at a open bank on the way home and deposited them all. Teller had a hard time getting them to lay flat so she could count them. It was a bundle of cash. I thought maybe he would bring them in a brief case like on tv

Most cash I ever held in my hand at one time. He did say the transmission clunked a little when it shifted from third to fourth. I told him that was the 89 % torque convertor locking up which it is and is entirely norman

Where do you live Terry? My Jeep CRD sale was similar to your sale. It was easy, text message only and they had a cashier's check delivered that I cashed before I delivered the Jeep.

I'm in Fairbanks. I cannot believe how easy selling stuff has become........when there isn't anything new on the market, used moves FAST!
