Clutch Vibration?

Kyle,

Vibration, think of a tire out of balance.

If you increase engine RPM (truck not moving, brake set) and the vibration increases or even decreases, then it is not coming from the post clutch drivetrain. The F/W and cover are always turning at engine speed, no way to isolate. If it only occours while the truck is moving, then we need to start looking at drivetrain issues.

Someone had a good diagnostic about vibration the other day that I haven't tried yet, increase RPM to say 3000 then get off of the fuel let it coast down on its own. Does it vibrate on the way up and down or just on the way up? Acceleration vibration may be due to a cylinder power balance issue, bit out of my area.

Did you reuse the old F/W? If so, then it is not likely the source if nothing has happened to it.

Covers are supposed to be balanced. The balance location is transferred by the shoulder bolts that line up a couple of pilot holes in the cover to pilot shoulders in the F/W.

PM sent also.

Viberation is only at idle, goes away with hundred RPMs or more added, truck is not moving, Same flywheel but has been resurfaced. Have not tried to get on it yet, I am letting the clutch break in per installation instructions. Over all truck seems to run like always, just a viberation at idle.

Dyno Daze DVD

To All,

The edited DVD is in todays mail to all that participated in our first SCTDR event this past September. I'm sorry it took so long to get to you, but with professional obligations and the incredible challenge for a first timer with a not quite strong enough PC to get it done, well lets just say, I learned alot and I'm glad its in the mail. I promised pictures also, but we were not able to make the copies, I need a serious PC fixup and then I'll get them out to you guys.

Happy Holidays to you all and your families.

Gary

Thanks Gary,

You're doing a great job and I'm very thankful for all you have done. I'll be looking in the box for it soon. No hurry on anything we do unless a truck is down or someone needs help. It's South Carolina; we don't like to rush anything. Shoot look how long it takes to cook a pig and we love it! The only thing fast around here is out trucks.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Gregg,

Thanks for the best laugh of the day so far, I needed that one.

Set yer watch to SC time and you'll never be early or late!

Gary

Just and update, the Nissan Puke-Up is still running, how I don't know and I bought power steering hoses for the '97, plan on pulling the gearbox and adjusting it, we installed a new idler arm already.

Neighbor has a 98 24V and we are looking to fix the pump and check the pin.

Still sorta confused on the much discussed 24V best fix, he just wants reliability, not a HP nut.

If anybody has been there, done that and has a minute, contact me about the 24V transfer pump issue, I have read issue 56 and still a bit puzzled.

One Sweet DVD

MAN THAT IS ONE GREAT JOB YOU DID ON THE DVD!:-laf Now I see why you are the President of the PDTDR. I hope the Brass at Perfection can see what a good thing this is. See you soon to thank you in person.

Merry Christmas!

My advise on the 24 Valve fuel fystem is to go aftermarket on the Lift Pump (FASS, Glacier, RASP, Est... ), install a Fuel Pressure Gage/ with a low pressure Warning Light & install an Industrial Injection standard duty rebuild for the Neighbor's truck. Just my $. 02's worth. Moose

Gary, if ya need help with anything preparation-wise I'm all ears.

I got the video yesterday. Great job and thanks.

Oyster Roast?

Glad you guys are getting the DVD and it seems to work so far, just wanted to have a bit of fun putting it together.

Thanks for the comments/feedback.

Now, Jglasgow, I'd like to hear a bit more about the "Oyster Roast" as you are in the low country, I'd expect that this is right up your inlet, ain't it?

If it involves outdoor cooking, I have a pretty decent setup in the backyard, spent many a night out there pondering and watching the sparks, got enough cast iron to make a Grandma smile, plenty of wood and ample parking.

We have briefly discussed going to a local eatery, but I am intrigued about what we could do as an outdoor cookout/get together. The picture is the backyard, fire pit, table, benches, privacy etc.

What say you SCTDR members?

Merry Christmas to all.

Get Together!

Yep, I'm up for it!

I was in Mt. Pleasant and spoke to the Mayor, Jglasgow, Asst. Mayor Felix N. and we just need to finalize a weekend for the Oyster Roast.

I have ample room in the backyard, campfire pit, I can arrange some cover in case the weather is iffy, little bit in the country, lots of parking space, oyster roast, fixins, and how would some good smoked country sausage sandwiches go with this idea? I smoke em over oak. Price to be determined based on supplies, we don't have dues or a budget to pull from, pay as you go.

John, look at your schedule, price out the oysters, speak up guys, is this OK with you guys? Location is Hartsville, Darlington County.

Anybody not able to play the DVD?

I have been giving the wrences a workout, 97 Concorde radiator, injector o-rings, 99 Neon struts, brakes, 97 3500 steering gearbox, tools need a cleanup.

Greetings from SLC Utah! No its not vacation.

I Finally Got a Price on The Oysters, 35$ A bushel. That is for Single Selects.

A Bushel will feed 3 guys that really like Oysters or 6 guys that kinda like them.

John

I'd be up for it. If no one else has floated a time yet, how about the weekend of either March 1st or March 8th, unless everyone would rather wait for warmer weather. Plant's going to be shut down for upgrades in between those two weekends, so it'd be a good time for me at least. Only a 4 hour drive for me (unless you get caught in a Charlotte traffic jam).

Been quite a while since I was down to Charleston - was stationed there from '79 to '82 on one of the old Polaris boats, last time I came thru was in '83 on my way back from Scotland heading out to WA state. Imagine by now it's changed to the point I wouldn't recognize the place.
