Just got 2 $64.90 LPs!

From Cummins in Roanoke VA - no problems - just gave them my company name and my credit card. They should be arriving on Monday..... Whoever made this "discovery" should be in the TDR Hall of Fame!

I'm also ordering the Vulcan big line kit tonight...

You bet!!

Just think, if evry TDR member, each and evry single TDR member walked in to the loacal cummins shop, ordered theselves a $65 pump, turned around and walked out, my friends, they'd think it was a movement. Yes sir, the turbo diesel register anti-profit lift pump movement, and just maybey they'd say "wow, mabey we should fix these things or somthin'". Or they'd just think were all crazy and just keep sellin lift pumps at any price.

This is the new Dodge in-tank pump that you're running along with the engine mounted pump? I was wondering if that combo would work or not. Just had a friend get his LP done under warranty and they went with the in-tank pump. Was looking for solutions for getting the pressure back up.

He has made it to Arizona from Michigan pushing wind the whole way with a fifth wheel trailer behind. He said pressure was great the whole way. My biggest concern is the in tank pump failing (from spinning to fast?). If the engine pump fails it has the bypass to allow flow.

No go on $64 pump.

Called two places today,( 3/20/06) Cummins Northeast, Dedham Mass. and Cummins in Cincinati-both said that the $64 pump kit no longer available, can get one for $164. Gave them the 40900-46 number. They were aware of the program but said no more. Am I getting the run-around?

Testing florida tomorrow will post the results. i sent them an email tonight if i don't hear anything by tomorrow afternoon i will call. anyone try this in florida yet? (orlando area)

Good luck to all

10-4 in orlando 67. 40something but only 2 in south florida area until they re-order. gave me a little bit of hard time until i mentioned TDR!!! then they were like :--) actually i had to tell them that other dealers had quoted me the 60 something price and they went and apparently called the tampa store and said that they had made a mistake in their pricing and that was that. folks if you cant get them for that price keep trying don't just hang up the phone when they say 200+$$ haggle them, if they want your business they will look to see if this is true and if they have made a mistake. they are nice there at se-power but remember it does not hurt to ask and ask and ask :-laf i will be picking up my 2 lps tomorrow. BTW just a question doesn't napa have the same carter pump for around the 60-70 $ price? i thought i heard that some were but i am probably wrong. any ideas?

I don't know about any $70 lift pumps. I was down in Raymondville Texas when my 4th lift pump quit. So I had to go to the local dealer who is fair. The only lift pump that D/C now stocks is the one that goes in the tank. I was told the old lift pump was replaced with the one that goes in the tank. So D/C fixed the lift pump problem, but we have to pay no help from D/C. The in tank pump list for about $400. 00 and puts out a steady 8 psi and will run till the fuel filter fills and builds pressure. When one is on the road one has few options.

I just got mine and put it in today.

Got it from Cummins in Medford OR.

He said it was listed at $200, and I said that was higher then other people were paying.

He looked at the price and said that it DID say $64. 90, but it wasn't updated in the system yet.

Didn't hook the pressure gauge back up yet, but it runs smooth so far.

Good timing as my last one wasn't doing so well.

Scored A Pump

I just scored one of the coveted Cummins pump kits from a Team Truck Center, although it cost me $89. 00 Can. About $70. 00 at the current exchange rate.

MrMike.

2 $65 pumps came today. Literature in box mentioned a "new Customer Assurance Plan Cummins Inc. will replace all fuel injection pumps manufactured between January 2001 and December 2003 due to fuel pump timing bushing failures... All fuel injection pumps that do not qualify for replacement will be covered by a 10-year (from engine date-in-service) extended for parts only. " Also all remanufactured pumps in 2001-2003 years will be replaced. You can tell the reman date by the last two digits on the bottom row of numbers. These programs are for school buses, transit buses or emergency vehicles only with the ISB engines.

When is Chrylser going to get with the program?

I should add that the instructions from Cummins said that all injection pumps that qualify MUST be replaced. They emphasized the MUST!

here are some pics of what the kit contains in it. i will have a pdf of the manual for you guys tomorrow if anyone wants it. its nice it even walks you step by step on how to remove and replace the vp44. hope this helps everyone out there trying to get one of these. i will post the invoice also if you want.

1. The box so you can see the part number.

2. The contents of the kit. from left to right fuel pressure switch harness (PN 3164754) next is Banjo Fitting, then in the packet are sealing washers and last is the fuel pressure switch (PN 3408705) and in the center is the Carter LP.

3. LP

4. Cool little sticker to let everyone know that your pump only costed you 60-70 bux $$$ :-laf
