Here is the email about the kit.

Hi

i was wondering if you had in stock part number 4090046 or 40900-46 it should be a lift pump kit for a 1999 ISB 5. 9 Cummins engine. also at what price? i will be in the Orlando area and will be needing to pick up 2 of these if you have them in stock as soon as possible.

Thanks for your time.

Thank you for your inquiry.

I do not have this kit in stock but can get from Cummins within a day or two.

Your price will be $67. 76 ea.

Cummins has units in stock in both Orlando and Tampa.

Please let me know how I can help you further.

Just A quick thought here if this campaign 0504 is for the same engine 5. 9 cummins but for buses and emergency vehicles only it seems to me they are setting a precident for the 5. 9 cummins engine do I smell class action here as cummins turbo diesel owners we only want what is comming to us reimbursement for all the lift pumps and or injection pumps lost or at the least just being able to purchase replacement pumps at the 68. 00 price do I here an AMEN oh and I do not have anything for sale nor do i represent anyone selling anything.

I would say no, since Dodge purchased the engines without a warranty from Cummins, Dodge should be on the hook, in my opinion.

$70 Lift Pump

Just got my lift pump kit from Cummins last night. currently I cannot install it because my '02 is under warranty and has just had the intank mod installed by my dealer. (who is and always has been fair with me) I have read through the install instructions and in regards to the low fuel pressure switch and alarm I wonder if this can be connected through the ECM as per the instructions to show a low fuel pressure alarm code via the engine warning light mode (code 779). Anyone out there done this or know if it is possible?

Also the service manager at my dealer whom I have known for about 25 years advised me that when my warranty is expired to go with Cummins recommendations, not Daimler Chrysler's.

MrMike

I have a 99 with ~51K on it, @ 25K warranty replacement of a dead LP.

I just saw signs of this LP heading south yesterday.

Does anyone know if DQ is doing the intank replacement under thr 100K/7y warranty, which expires next month for me!!!!!

Cummins NE still has some at the $65 price.

Long story short, I have two coming and called my buddy to let him know.

Cummins NE, has a network, some will sell out of territory, others wont. Depends on who you get. Albany has 65 in stock (yes 65 instock at $65 bucks), 518-459-1710 , but wouldnt sell to me since another company had the rights in my territory. (We Need to find a tdr member to broker them for us in Albany), but a locally Cummins dealer had 11 (now 9) in stock.

I've had a hard time buying from the local one, in the past would only sell things to me through a local truck shop. I got real lucky and he sold to me.

Cummins NE, 207-883-8155 has one left in stock and was ready and willing to sell.

Thanks guys.

They have plenty of them down here 67$ with no problems on getting them. just give Ben or Randy at South East Power a call. (800) 733-6101 i am sure if you ask them the will ship it for you.

I just called Cummins Rocky mnt in Henderson and was told they had some at the 64 dollar price. ;) When I drove down 45 miles one way, I was told I needed an engine number as it can only be sold under the cummins program for a bus? they had the one that is called for and would be happy to sell one to me for 165 :--) Thanks but no thanks. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Rafael

Lift Pumps

I called Cummins West-San Antonio and gave the parts man the 4090046 # and he quoted me a price of $165. I ask about the $65 price and he said I will have to talk to the parts manager. From then on everything I ask he said I would have to talk to the PM. I politely hung the phone up.

After posting I got the reds and decided to add these remarks. We the public that have purchased the Cummins via Dodge gets no break per sa. We are the mainstay of the great success by both companies with the sell of the vehicles. I've seen no suggestions, no designs (such as relocating the pump and designing a gear pump instead of a vane pump), no cut in prices, no nothing toward helping the general public with this crisis. I was told by a Dodge dealer the pump now has a new parts number. He said this pump allows the IP to pull more fuel though them in case the pump fails. We can get this pump but will pay the exorbitant price. There's nothing to say that the pump will be any more reliable than the other one.

here is a previous post about an engine number you can use.

(Mick2500)

I did NOT need an engine number but I did some digging around and found a valid BlueBird Bus engine number that you can use if you get a distributor that requires it. Engine # 56561524 This is a 1999 manufacture date 250 Encore ISB 5. 9 Cummins engine.

Nuv,

Thanks, I was going to repost that or suggest he read the WHOLE thread. :p

Installed the Vulcan big line kit and the new campaign pump this past weekend. I'm totally amazed - FP gauge is reading 15psi steady. I can only get it to move to 13 psi when I jump on the throttle. Previous pump was all over the place - on a good day, it would hang around 9psi, then drop to 1-3psi. The big line kit was a breeze to install.

We'll have to wait and see what happens with the replacement pump - only time will tell.

I saw this thread and did what alot of you have, went right on down to my local Cummins house.

I walked in, told the guy the part #, and he says "I've got 17. " I said I''d take two.

As I hand him my c. c. , another parts guy walks by and quickly takes the lift pumps off the counter and gives me the whole "campaign" only deal.

I was w/in seconds of having two for less than the price of one.

Oh well, maybe next time.

Where are you gut finding barbed fittings to use these pumps and pushers? I cant find 12 1. 5mm to 3/8 hose barbed fittings anywhere.

Local hydraulic hose and fitting company had them near me. A buddy of mine got some from Jegs though. You have to use 2 fittings on each side.

Good luck, Matt
