I saw this thread and did what alot of you have, went right on down to my local Cummins house.

I walked in, told the guy the part #, and he says "I've got 17. " I said I''d take two.

As I hand him my c. c. , another parts guy walks by and quickly takes the lift pumps off the counter and gives me the whole "campaign" only deal.

I was w/in seconds of having two for less than the price of one.

Oh well, maybe next time.

Ian

See this is the kind of crap that would make me blow my gasket #@$%! #@$%! #@$%! whats it to them a friggin pump!! now i could see if people were buying these and selling them at regular price but if you are in need of this pump Cummins should help you out with the kit.

ichoplin PM me if you want info on where to get it and have it shipped to you.

I've got my $70 lift pump.

I've got my Geno's Vulcan Kit.

But the barbed fittings (that came with the Vulcan kit) to thread into the LP ports don't thread well into the new LP, feels like it's a US thread vs a metric thread, or a taper thread starting to seat after just a thread or two.

It only goes in a thread or two, and tightens up real quick.

Are these $70 LP inlet and outlet threaded ports different then what normally comes with the Cummins?

i just checked with the local NPOWER CUMMINS dealer intown, $71. 75 for the pump, not to bad. little higher than some of you are paying, but looks like I might make a trip up there tomorrow afternoon and pick me up 2. :-D will go great with the vulcan fuel line upgrade I just ordered.

I have Vulcan's Big Line kit and a new $70 lift pump sitting in a box waiting to be installed. Just handed threaded a fitting into both ports with no problem.

Stref, One favor... .

Do you also find that the brass fitting they give you in the LP campaign kit to put the low pressure sense into, threads nicely into the inlet and outlet port of the campaign LP?

Mine does. . and I'm comparing the threads between that fitting that came in the LP kit, to the barb fitting in the Geno's Vulcan kit, using my calibers, the # of threads per inch is the same, the OD appears to be the same, the pitch appears to be slightly different.

TIA.

Bob

Although my fitting is not brass it does fit into both ports of the lift pump. The instructions say to use this fitting in place of the outlet banjo bolt of the fuel filter, and then the pressure sensor threads into it. You might want to give Eric a call at Vulcan (360 713-1549) to see if he can help.

Thanks Stref, I have 2 $70 pumps, and so two of those fitting.

Both work well in both pumps.

Both pumps have the same problem with the fittings from the Geno's Vulcan kit.

I've been going nutz measuring the trying to find the problem... .

Thanks for the name and numbers, much appeciated.

I'll see what they have to say, so I might have more info for Geno's if needed.

:{ From playing with 1 of my 2 $70 LP with damn fittings, I dropped one LP on the table and broke the darn power connector. . gotta go by epoxy and fix it. #@$%!

I just called Cummins Rocky mnt in Henderson and was told they had some at the 64 dollar price. ;) When I drove down 45 miles one way, I was told I needed an engine number as it can only be sold under the cummins program for a bus? they had the one that is called for and would be happy to sell one to me for 165 :--) Thanks but no thanks. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Rafael

I got 2 for $64. 50 plus tax at Las Vegas Cummins and just went in and gave them the part number. Did not go into detail who I was etc. as I did not want to have a hazzel with the parts guy and thankfully I did not. While I was standing there waiting on him; when he did and I asked for the part number he said he had just gotten off the phone from a guy asking for the same kit number. This was Monday was that you on the phone? He had 16 before I took 2. Hope you got the pumps you wanted and the lower price.

I just picked up two for $64. 90 each at Cummins Southern Plains in Dallas tonight. I called and told them the part number and he said they were available and shot me the price. When I got there, the night parts guy couldn't find them anywhere, although the computer showed 9 of them. When he called the parts manager, the parts mgr told him that they were campaign pumps and that they shouldn't be sold outside of the campaign. They had them stored off to the side, so it looks like they're trying to keep them on a tight leash. But since I had called ahead to check before I drove down, the parts guy said he'd sell them to me anyhow.

So it looks like they're getting harder to come by... .

I got mine from Cal Pacific in El Cajon, Ca. , per information in this thread. I tried in Phoenix by requesting only the kit P/N for a Cummins ISB 5. 9, but was told that it was a campaign kit and would not be sold for a Dodge CTD, no matter what what said on that "diesel site". That is when I called Cal Pacific, but tried the Irvine distributer first, since the thread said that is were El Cajon gets them. Irvine was taking my order, but when I gave my state was told that they can't ship to Arizona. So, I called and ordered from El Cajon ($64. 90), via credit card. When I got the invoice I saw that they charged $91. 90, which included $27. 00 for "next day" shipping. I didn't need it that fast and should have asked.

Update...

Just called Eric of Vulcan, real nice guy. Great conversation.

He said at times the plating builds up in the valley of the thread (where I can't measure).

I don't have a die, so used the FP port.

But guys if you do as I did cause you don't have the die. . make sure you only do it half way in then back it out and clean out the FOD left behind in the port of your LP and the threads of the fitting, then go in all the way, and clean both again. Do it a few more times, cleaning inbetween untill there's no FOD left in the threads of either. Or just go buy a die.

Some mean little curly cues are left behind.

just curious, what number do you guys have stamped on the pump casting on these pumps? I got mine today, and was a bit confused to find one pump was gold colored on the motor casing, and chrome on the other one. Both were in sealed Cummins part boxes. Both have the campain stickers and all the accessories. Anyway, the number stamped on the pump housing on my two are the following;

Gold one

1. ) 27085K20A w/ a sticker on the motor housing 4932708

Silver one

2. ) 27075L14B w/out a sticker.

I have two.

Both Chrome.

No stickers at all anywhere

27075K31A

27075F23A

Numbers are stamped on the head/top part, not on the can.

Still Available For 64.90

Feeling good about TDR and Cummins Cal Pacific. I have been trying to get a set of lift pumps from Cummins in Salt Lake. Best price to my shop here in Kanab was $179. 00 plus state tax and shipping. I called my old Cummins Cal Pacific shop in Cali. One question asked: "what is your engine number?" I gave them my engine number and PN 4090046. They are shipping me two kits for $64. 90 each plus shipping, and no state sales tax.

OBTW, This thread has already paid for my my yearly TDR subscription cost and some change.

Thanks guys.

SWEET thats what its all about ! :-laf

I tried 3 of the places listed in this thread, including Cal Pacific - each was a no-go - the Cal Pacific guy claimed the pumps were only available for campaign purposes, and had to be installed by their own shop.

Must be tough on vehicles that fail on the road at great distance from their shop! :(

Seems to be a great variation in response, sometimes even in the same Cummins parts department! I'd love to get my hands on one at the reduced price many are paying, but if the bypass valving is the ONLY mod in these pumps, I can probably make a better one on my own, just as I did on my Carter pusher pump...
