Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Gun raffles. What's your preference?

Shades of Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa !!!!

I wonder how many other games thruout his career Tom Brade has been using deflated footballs.

I wonder what this will do to his career and legacy (if anything).

This whole thing is a media joke as usual. 2lbs in a football, supposedly they were used in the 1st half that ended 14-7 I think. The second half supposedly used the proper balls and the Patriots blew the Colts in the weeds. The ref officials handle the ball twice as much as any single team and nothing was said or done. Now if people and the media would pay as much attention to the Government we may really have something.

Dave

Its playing out in the news. BTW, belecheck (sp) is a know cheater and has been fined significantly.

Several nfl quarterbacks have said that 2lbs indeed does make a difference.

And no, the world would not end. I could give a rats petootie about brady's career and/or legacy. Just wondered what the outcome might be.

No, they probably would have won anyway.

We are a little concerned here in seattle. Not because they might cheat again, but because of the possibility that belecheck or brady might be suspended from the super bowl. The Seahawks want to play the Patriots at their full strength and win or lose against the best team the Patriots can field.

Some quarter backs say the 2lbs make a difference and others say it does not matter. Other players say it is more wide spread than people know. I agree both teams need to be intact for the game, I also know it probably did not make a difference since this all supposedly happened in the first half. The first half was a close game so maybe they should have used the same balls in the second half to avoid the blowout. As with anything the liberal media gets a hold of they seem to start a feeding frenzy. I personally am tired of hearing the whole thing.

It's a sad state of affairs when NASCAR sets a better example than the NFL. If this was NASCAR Belicheck would be suspended for the Super Bowl and fined real money.

So you have found him guilty with no evidence ?. Until something substantial shows up and not hear say I will reserve judgement

Dave

I have an idea, suspend Brady for one game of his choosing NEXT year including his coach. Somewhere they need to make a statement that the league will not just look the other way!

Innocent till proven guilty guy's. Doesn't matter what you think. What if it is ever found out and it's the ball tender ?.

Dave

It's not hearsay. The refs found the balls to be under inflated. The ball tender works for Belicheck. The buck stops with him. Doesn't matter which person on the pit crew makes the illegal modification, the crew chief pays the fine and does the time. It's called taking responsibility. That's why they pay him the big bucks.

That is YOUR WAY of thinking. MY WAY is to condemn the guilty person. Everyone has their own way but I am not going to find people guilty until there is evidence and this whole thing is so rediculous it is hard to take seriously. There were plenty of bad calls all year that could have been the other team winning the game but lost in the end and we are debating about 2lbs in a football.

Dave

What I wonder about is if the balls are all inflated 2 hours before the game in the 70 degree locker room, how much pressure would they loose at game time at 40 degrees? Or 20 degrees? Could there have been a problem with the gage used for the first inflation? Could there have been a batch of bad filler valves in the footballs that allowed for a slow leak? No matter what the problem should have been addressed during the game, not after.

I think the point of this thread has been misunderstood. I dont know if brady is a cheater or not. The investigation will tell. My question is whether this incident will forever taint his legacy no matter how the investigation goes. Personally, I hope him to be found to be innocent.

Belecheck, on the other hand, is a well known cheater. His involvement has not been proven yet. But if he is guilty, I hope they ream him good.

And, btw, this cheating in the nfl is a big deal. There is a lot of money, not to mention careers, that are at stake in each and every game. If this has been going on for quite a while, this is a real problem.

And btw, I agree with Snoking that any sanctions should be for some time in the future. Nothing that would affect this years superbowl in the slightest. Anything that might happen before or during the superbowl would not be fair to the Seahawks, the fans, or anyone.

I just do not want people sent to the gallows without proof. Both teams played with the same balls and has been stated it would not have changed the outcome. I believe the NFL pressure is 12.5 to 13.5. So if a ball is inflated to the 12.5 in a 70-75 degree room then taken to the cooler field what would the drop be, depends on the temp. change. Anyone know what the actual pressure was tested at ?. Through this whole thing I have not heard the number.

Looks pretty scientific to me

Each team has their own offense balls. Only at a turnover does the other team handle them. Sherman wants them to use the low pressure ones in the super bowl. Just improves has odds on intercepting.

So Dave you think cheating is ok because it did not effect the outcome. What message does this send to kids who view the Brady's of sports as hero's?
